I received my Gen3 Stride. Assembled easily and overall looks good.

Here is my comparison between Gen3 Stride vs Radpower Radcity Step-thru 3
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
* They are both step-thre bikes. Look similiar. Same white/ black color.
* Stride Bafang 500W motor accelerates very suddenly when over Level 1. Too powerful? Radcity step thru 3 750W motor is very smooth in acceleration. I can't feel the same smoothness in Stride.
But, Stride 500W Banfang feels stronger than Rad power 750W.
Maybe faster accel? or lighter body? or narrower tire?
If anybody has an idea, please let me know. Or is my bike defective?
* Stride disc brake is weaker than Radcity regenerative disc brake. Not so bad, but clearly weaker.
* I prefer Stride ride feel when I don't use a motor. With a hybrid bike tire, Stride rolls smooth and light. But, Radcity fat and heavy tire feels totally opposite. Not easy to pedal without a motor help. Overall Stride better. But, in some situation, Radcity could be better. In an off-road, grass, or sand?
* This Stride review video was helpful. https://youtu.be/t6zalE2jE9A
* The in-body & hidden battery design looks better than Rad power's attached battery design.
* Shimano Tourney cheap 7 speed works good. No shift missed.
* LCD font is too small and thin. Hard to read easily in daylight. Improve the font size and LCD.
* Front headlight is okay. Rear light is AAA operated. No blinking function supported. For a while, Rad power rear light is connected and controlled with the battery.
Electric bike report has a really good review of the RadPOWER RadRover6 with the 750w motor. You're definitely right the RadP, is definitely not getting the full power from that 750 motor, the brakes were really a wash as this model only has hydraulic vs regens.
On the hill climb (same hill btw)
RadP $1,649 or $1,574 with PayPal/Discover Card
  • 1 min 48 sec at 10mph Power only
  • 1 min 24 sec at 12.9mph Power assist
  • Brake from 20mph = 15'4"
Gen3 Stride $899 or $855
  • 1 min 50 sec at 9.9mph power only (bigger rider than the RadP)
  • 1 min 13 sec at 14.9mph power assist (likely due to skinnier tire and lighter bike by about 12lbs)
  • Brake from 20mph = 15'5" (skinnier tire hurts here and was clearly traction limited)
Gen3 Flex $999/$949
  • 1 min 38 sec at 11.1mph power only (same rider as the RadP)
  • 1 min 15 sec at 14.5mph
  • Brake from 20mph = 19'6" (reviewer called the tires slick and stated the brakes locked up way before the tire stopped)
Not sure that the RadP is worth $750 more, or $650 for the Flex, especially when the larger motor doesn't seem to get you anything.
Is the accessory bundle packaged inside the bike box or shipped separately?
Brakes are utter crap going down hills
Your bikes are not coming till Monday. Seriously dude get yourself some help. I know you have purchased the bikes you don't now want them but that was you making a bad decision and hurriedly buying the Stride. The Stride was clearly sold as street bike not a trail bike. It is not the company's fault that they supplied you with what you ordered, it was their obligation to do so. Leave everybody else out of your tantrum and disappointment that you have with yourself
Was able to pickup two Strides for 599.99 ea no tax , at Gen3 .
Will most likely resell them next year and buy a better bike
I guess it pays to complain about customer service. If you do not they will never learn how to fix their mistakes.
will be giving a follow up review , The accessory bonus package is garbage and definitely not worth 100 bucks , will be getting two.
Bikes Will be here this monday
This bike is a much better bike... 750w versus 500watt from the OP. Only $100 more, at $999
You do realize wattage can be misrepresented right? The 500w on this bike actually performs better than other 750 watt bike. The Rideal looks like a solid bike but it's been OOS for a while now.
Ariel Rider makes really good bikes. Turn offs for me on this model:
1) TIE - 750w motor is still limited to class 2 @ 20mph so no advantage. We see the same with other claimed 750's.
2) TIE - Also has the same torque at 65nm as the Stride. Wait I thought it had 750watts?
3) +STRIDE - No fenders at this price so need to add $59
4) +STRIDE - No gift pack so need to add $100
5) +STRIDE - No rear package rack so need to add $75
6) +STRIDE - 6speed vs. 7speed for the stride. BTW, I've had my stride up to 25mph with 5 pas.
7) +STRIDE - Twist throttle vs. push button. Really a preference, but twists aren't great when riding pedal bikes.
8) +STRIDE - Step through Ariel is made for taller riders so won't fit my wife. 5'3" vs. 5'.
9) +STRIDE - Front fork has no shocks. You can upgrade for another $150.
10) +STRIDE - No digital readout or MPH but you can add for $50.
11) +STRIDE - Battery attached to chassis looks really tacky…..like home built tacky.
12) +STRIDE - Stride has a walk assist function, Ariel does not.
13) +STRIDE - Arials battery forces the water bottle below the frame. Not ideal, hard to reach.
14) +STRIDE - Ariel has no kick stand, add for $30
15) +STRIDE - Like for like the Stride costs $435 less
16) +STRIDE - And finally, the Ariel is out of stock.
So really not faster, looks uglier, out of stock and need to add about $465 to match the Stride's specs. Other than those 16 points, the Ariel is just OK. But yes it does have a claimed 750w motor that isn't any faster and doesn't have any more torque. Maybe Gen3 needs to play the same game and declare their peak watt at 900 like what Ariel and RadPower does to fool uneducated buyers. Also, if you've never ridden a 52 pound bike at 20+ mph and don't have front shocks……..well you're in for a rude awakening.
It's really hard to beat the Stride at $855 with PayPal/DiscoverCard 5%.
Also, it's a mid-step, not a step-through. And it's a generic motor, not a Bafang. And it's still OOS.
Besides that, yeah, fabulous.
I just assembled mine and the front rotor is rubbing on the outer pad even when rotating freely and makes a rubbing noise, is this normal? Will it go away after some miles? The rotor looks fine.
