In case someone hasn't mentioned it in the 50 pages of comments. Apparently these bikes can be adjusted to go faster than 20mph. There's a wire you need to disconnect. I found this out in the Gen3 users group on Facebag. Haven't actually tried it yet though.
Do you have a link or other info on the wire to disconnect? I tried the WALLKE video instructions, the Stride dose not have wires in the same place.

Has anyone had any luck with support? Received gen3 Groove on 7/7 with a bent / out of alignment front fork so unable to install front wheel. Submitted a ticket 7/9 and still waiting to hear back. Also if you had a similar issue and was able to fix it, I'd appreciate if you could share how you resolved it.
Add one additional person receiving the Groove with the same issue.

I'm not sure where to post this but I have a question or two. I bought online 2 Gen3 Groove bikes, the first one assembled easy. The 2nd one, upon opening the box had some scratches (no big deal) but the front fork is warped or bent, no way will the wheel go on both front forks and brake caliper. I took a level to measure it and it is off, not parallel or straight as the first one was so it is not my imagination. IDK if they shipped me a used unit or damaged in shipping. I get mistakes happen but I've been emailing and calling their support since last week-NO ANSWER-I posted on their FB page and they deleted my post but no support answer.

Is there a way to get a hold of them (they are based in Washington)-their outgoing message say they will get back to you in 1-2 days-been over that-has anyone dealt with them?
Or is there some way to fix the front fork myself? Some tool I'm not aware of to bend it into shape? Will any bike shop do it even if they did not sell me the bike?

So at this point based on numerous complaints of the same problem, the company must have known and still selling manufacturer defect bikes? What a horrible company!

The problem is it prevents you from going 24mph even if you are going to downhill and weigh 100 lbs. And for what it's worth it's pretty easy to get it to 20mph even if you're 190lbs, so my guess is it'll easily go faster than 20mph, particularly if you're pedaling.

While gravity is same all over the planet, a heavier person would go downhill faster, because of air resistance. Try throwing a feather down from height to understand the basic concept.

How did you manage to pull out the derailleur protector out? Its so strong, did you guys remove it from the bike, pull it out and then assemble it back?

At about the 2:00 in this video, the guy uses a crescent wrench to get enough leverage to bend the derailleur guard back out so that it doesn't interfere with changing to higher gears. [Different bike, but same issue and derailleur setup]

I had the same problem (couldn't shift into 7th gear), and this fix worked.

Just like I mentioned weeks ago
I've been in IT for the past 20 years, but before that when I worked in sales, I took a sales class and learned that a happy customer might tell one or two people about their experience, but an angry customer will tell everyone and their brother. Lol.

So my guess is thousands of people got good bikes from GEN3, and the 3-5% with issues all come to Slickdeals to talk about the bad experiences. I don't blame people for getting upset, and most of the time there are good reasons to complain.

As a new customer and a first time E-Bike owner I hope GEN3 can fix their customer service problems and fast. The only issue I had so far was a flat tire due to a manufacturer defect, but it was a simple tube replacement. Otherwise my wife is really happy with her new bike.

Alas, let the complaining continue, lol...

LOL. It's been a while since I studied physics, but I do recall that gravity affects all bodies the same way, regardless of mass. So a heavier person would go downhill at the same speed as a lighter person (though there might be a very small effect of air resistance which in this case would slow the larger, heavier person). The feather issue is entirely another matter and unrelated to this issue.

Not sure if this gen3 is better, but after owning a core 5 for a year, I would never buy anything from ride1up. Too many things broke and customer service was super slow. I spent more time waiting for parts then enjoying the ebike. Only thing they really get going for them is the motors are very well built and can handle some power.
My experience was opposite. I had noisy motor so the sent me a new one and it came pretty fast. Was with me the whole way and was willing to pay for LBS to install but unfortunately most LBS wont do the work cuz they don't like working on aftermarket brands
