I pulled the trigger on this too for my son. I didn't want to spend anything too crazy on something when we already have excellent desktops. I did see there were some thermal complaints on this laptop with larger wattage cards like the 3070. So, I'm hoping chassis doesn't thermal throttle much with a lower wattage 3050ti.
I hate when people post misleading deals like this. Whether you get a shop card AFTER paying the full price, doesn't discount from the price you paid initially. The price is 1000+, that's what you'll pay.

Its a combination of it using the lower wattage version.of the 3070 and poor cooling. I would have hoped that this would hit 700 or less before the summer ends.

Yeah. If you shop regularly at Costco maybe it counts as 800. But if not, you have a gift card which you didn't need, and you spent 1000
If you're getting a deal from costco you're probably already a member.
I'm gonna buy the normal essentials I get from Costco every month anyway with that $200 card. So, the price really is $800.
I certainly understand the apprehension if you're not a member, but that doesn't make the money any less real.
And to boot my kid can use this laptop as much as he wants and in a few years if it fails like his last Acer Predator did after only 1.5 years... and I got screwed because the motherboard was dead; Costco will replace this new laptop with no questions asked with their extended warranty....
Yeah, this is a decent deal, but nothing stellar price wise. I think the 1349 deal on the omen is better for the price/specs/cooling. But this isn't bad if you wanna stay under a grand on a kids toy.

The 2022 model gets a 3060, that's like 40% faster, so if you can wait . . .

This one comes with 3050ti whereas the microcenter one is 3050. How much difference does it make?
