Wow Kroger is cutting discount now a days, 15% to 13% to now 12% !
I ported to Cricket several years back when they had the 5/100 deal. Over the years, they had several good deals on their locked phones, I've used them for 6 months and they become unlocked. I think the best deal several years back was from Best buy where I brought a cricket sim card, $40 prepaid refill, and a cheap dumb nokia phone. I would return the sim card used the refill and sold the nokia phone at ebay. heck, this was one of the better deals,

Many people are upset because they are no cancelling the grandfathered 5/100 deal. In my circle, I have one person who uses little data and another person who uses alot of data. So Cricket don't really have family plans that cater to this but offer everybody the same plan like one size fits all model.

Their pricing model is stupid, with right now the best deal is the 4/100 deal where everybody gets unlimited data while 4 people on their 10gb/month plan will be $110.

Has anyone looked into the AT&T prepaid plan? 90 bucks for 5 lines, 5GB per a line.

I'm also on the 5/100 discount with renewal coming up 2nd week of July. So far have not received the message and the app shows $100 due but I assume I will get the message after next renewal. I'm quite honestly surprised they have kept the discount around this long. In a way, this opens up some more opportunities for us as there wasn't much point in going anywhere else with the $20/line price. I've been trying Visible as a second line (esim) since the beginning of the year. It's been working very well and seems like a better deal than the Cricket unlimited at the same price ($25 with group save but comes with hotspot and possibility to add Apple Watch, as well as good referral credit opportunities). We may just switch all lines or maybe use the opportunity to get the in-laws out on their own (so I won't be the one hearing their phone service complaints).
I just recently ran out of cricket credit from previous Kroger promo but I'll probably buy another $300 (or 250 if i can piece that amount together - I assume it's still limited to one of each denominations) this time around since switching everyone likely will take me a bit of time, plus I think one phone that we got fairly recently might still be locked. $250 will get me 1000 fuel points which is worth about $35 ($1 off up to 35 gal) on top of the 12% discount. I'll probably switch the lines to the 5/125 unlimited plan at the next billing cycle until I'm ready to move everyone to Visible.

After sales tax/911 fees....only ends up saving around $8 vs buying at Target (where you can buy the cards for face value w/o taxes/fees)
I live in a sales tax state but only pay a flat .55 e-911 fee, no sales tax. Yes, no fees/tax at all via Target.

New cost per line is $26 instead of $20. That's basically 30% increase, to put things into context. I had a feeling they probably have been trying to get rid of the grandfathered pricing for a while and was just waiting for the critical customer base number and a perfect excuse (inflation). Count me as another who's planning on leaving cricket once my credits are up for our 5 lines. Problem is they announced the change days after I just loaded up with 6 months of credit (now only worth 4.6 months). It was a good run but now time to move on.
So let me get this straight you are getting gift cards for these 5 lines at 100 so you were not paying taxes or fees?

You will regret switching to visible… and with all the discounts above how much are you really saving?

What's wrong with Visible? I was thinking of switching to that after being with Cricket since 2013.

Go to the thread talking about the promo plan that att prepaid is offering 8 plus 8 gb for a year for 300

some real bad reviews of visible

Even at 130 for 5 lines that's pretty good

The tax and fees are state dependent, I think. In my state, it's flat $100. No tax or fees. You can try some zip code in CA and you'll probably get no tax or fee.

Like I said, I have Visible on my phone as a second line. Had it since beginning of the year. I use their data exclusively (since it's unlimited) and use voice service mainly for conference calls since I otherwise won't be getting data at the same time (my phone can only do data on the network it is using for voice when a call is active). I haven't had any issues. I won't really save anything going with visible vs switching to the 5/125 unlimited deal at cricket but I would gain hotspot on all lines (wife could really use that at times). I would also likely be able to score some referral credits since. I have so far only had one month where I paid $25 for my visible service. I had referral credits (knocks off $20) for all other months and still have some banked. The only thing I'm a little worried about is having to deal with the number transfers on the phones my in-laws use.

Never paid taxes or fees for Cricket cards before. I think Best Buy got in trouble for charging tax a couple years ago and had to refund everyone. I'm in MA.

I'm currently on the 4/100 plan. Any word about this plan going up? I have 6 months of credit prepaid. Wonder if I need to look into switching too?
