Any body have this. I'm needing a table saw. Seems like a good price. Do I really need a 10" for a DIYer

I got the 10" for myself, well my wife pushed me to get it. I don't know if it's needed or not and I've only just begun getting use out of it but it's great to use. Ultimately I decided that this is something I'll keep forever so went with the 10" as a result.

How often do you need to cut pieces thicker than about two inches (rough limit for 8-1/4")? A 10" will cut up to about 3.5".

Also, this saw doesn't accept dado blades (although DeWalt's entry 10" saws don't either).

I bought this last time it was available for $360. The stand is very robust, and the saw is great too. I put a diablo 40T blade on it and my cuts are very clean. I've used mine for all sorts of plywood cutting and re-sawing thin strips of hardwoods.

I think it depends what kind of DIY work you want to do. In my mind, the biggest thing you're giving up by getting an 8.25" blade over a 10" one is it limits your blade options (e.g., fewer 8.25" blade makes/models/teeth/thicknesses, can't use a dado blade, etc.). The table itself is quite small, so that's another limitation to be aware of (i.e., I ripped some full-sheets, and it required a lot more effort and caution than a full size table with nice side/outfeed support). On the plus side, it's very portable and can be moved around the garage/shop with ease.

Personally, I have no use for dado blades since I feel I can do that type of work with my router.

I would recommend getting the 10" table saw. The reason is that it also has the same arbor diameter as the 8" or even 7 1/4". So with the 10" table saw, you can throw in an 8" blade, or in my case a 7 1/4" blade (for rough cut). The reverse doesn't work.

I have this saw and stand. This is a good price on a great saw. To answer the second part of the question, it's highly dependent on your intended use. It's reliable and accurate for professional use but I rarely have to run anything more than 3/4 flooring through it so 8 1/4 is adequate. My only complaint is the blades don't go on sale as often as the standard sizes do, but if you're only using it occasionally this shouldn't be a big factor considering how much you save up front.

You can get it with the miter saw instead for $10 less ($349) but it has a cheaper stand.

I personally have the Kobalt 10" table saw from Lowes that has the stand built in. I love it and it is a bit bigger than this one.

I wouldn't want this as my primary saw. It's a great saw for professionals that need a very portable saw, but if you find that you want to do more than just rip cuts you'll want a 10" saw. The 10" also has a lot more options for blades, there are not that many 8 1/4 blades out there.

If you do end up getting a 10" saw I recommend the Metabo, or the 10" Dewalt that they sell at Lowe's. I would only buy used I it has a riving knife.
