Home Depot shows $12.96 regular price, just an FYI… they also offer a S&S that takes an extra 5% off (never saw that before from HD)
Home Depot and Amazon almost always price match each other, so if it's discounted at one, the other will also likely have the same deal.

Amazon and Home Depot are currently the lowest priced for this product, except for Grizzly which has it for $8.95 ($15.95 list), but you'd have to pay shipping. https://www.grizzly.com/products/...pc./t22290

Yes, Amazon title is wrong. Impact bits are black. These are just regular bits. Use these on an impact driver, they're going to shatter eventually....

Debating between this and https://www.acehardware.com/depar...ts/2294932

I guess box is the attractive part of this deal.

Impact bits are made out of harder metal and hold their shape. Normal bits have a tendency of stripping out fasteners when used with a drill or impact driver.
Normal bits are fine, if you tighten something by hand. If you are using any power tool, stick with impact bits.

Whoa there, impact rated bits are more ductile, not harder than conventional bits. If they were harder, they'd shatter. Impact tools provide torque and longitudinal impact to whatever you are working on. The harder metals are generally too brittle (rigid) to withstand the regular combination of high-frequency impact and torque.

Yes, I found out about this deal by looking at that deal and seeing what else is out there. I do like the compactness of the case in that deal but it's utility is far less vs. the Dewalt Tough case. Both probably contain the same type of bits.

IMHO the best impact rated bits come from Milwaukee (Shockwave) and Makita (XPS). I've got a bunch of XPS and shockwave bits which I prefer to use so personally I was more interested in the utility/versitility of the box vs. the fact that Dewalt bits were provided.

Project Farm did a great torture test comparing impact rated bits from several manuafacturers. At the time I don't think XPS bits from Makita were released (though the Makita Gold Impact are pretty decent as well). He really like Milwaukee's Shockwave bits and Bauer bits in terms of "bang for the buck." The Dewalt MAX FIT bits were middle of the pack. I'm not sure what sort of Dewalt bits are provided with either of these cases though.

Here's a good video comparing the durability of the Milwaukee Shockwave vs. Makita XPS vs. Dewalt MaxImpact bits: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kU9ctP3Uiqc

Not necessarily. Makita Impact XPS bits, which many believe are the best impact rated bits on the market currently are silver in color:

Try the laser cut ones from Wera, complete game changer. Diamond tip ones are my second favorite though.

Aren't these always $13 or so?

I bought a bunch a while ago at $10... but I don't have any left as they're not very durable, and the magnets tend to lose strength.

I'd like to see an updated version though. Slap some n52's in it, and pray it isn't permanently attached to something lol. I did this with a few of my bit cases... and and it cracked the plastic when it got yanked out of my hand lol.
Yeah, I mean it's not a bad price BUT according to 3camels AND Keepa, this is basically regular price on Amazon.

You are correct. Dewalt sells an impact version of this set which is pricier and the magnetic box is colored black instead of yellow:

https://www.amazon.com/DEWALT-DWMTCIR20-20-Piece-Impact-Ready-ToughCase/dp/B004I6C5CI/ref=sr_1_12?cr... [amazon.com]

It's interesting that Dewalt decided to combine a black case with it's impact resistant colored black bits since the bits/items would be harder to see in the case since they are both black.
