Depends on what you prioritize. If you have multiple HDMI 2.1 gaming consoles (PS5, XSX, PC) I'd go with the C1. If none of that matters to you, wait on the Sony. The Sony supports HDMI 2.1, but it's limited to HDMI ports 3(eARC), and 4. If you plan on using a sound bar or AVR, you'll either have to get a HDMI 2.1 compliant receiver for HDMI 2.1 passthrough, get a HDMI 2.1 switch, or run your audio through optical (not ideal). The Sony 77" will have better picture quality and it has a glossy finish unless the smaller A80Js that have a semi matte screen. Enjoy whatever you decide to get.

still waiting for 65" go ~$1000
My local Costco had a floor model for $1200. I doubt a new model will hit 1000 any time soon if a completely beat up one sells for 1200.

Floor model will have burn in issues for sure 😂. I think it should hit $1000 soon because a80j was around $1200-$1300 the other day on amazon.

I would definitely return if you're still within your window! I remember every year I would go and look at the 65"/67" at Costco display and drool over either, but never really noticed how much bigger the 77" is over the 65" since Costco warehouses make both screens look tiny.

Then I read a comment here saying something like, "Always get the biggest tv your space and budget can accommodate! And realize that the 77" is like 40% more screen size than the 65". Splurge as much as you can on your tv and your bed since you'll probably end up using those two things the most in the next 5 years" And it hit me. Hard. Haha.

We went full send on the CX 77" ~2 years ago for 3300 and never regretted it for one second. It's massive and absolutely gorgeous. So so so happy we got the bigger size. If you can afford it, and at this price it's not that much more expensive, just do it!!! ☺️
I haven't watched much TV when I had the 55"
Got the 77" oled too and I watch tv more now.

I bought the 65" from Best Buy and am loving it. I have it mounted in my room and use it for gaming/movies, the screen is incredible. 77" may be too big for a bedroom but I think it would look really nice in a living area/game room. I hope the price for 65" goes down as well so I can get BB to price match lol

What are the odds of Costco price matching and/or Sony A80J coming down to similar pricing? The LG seems to have many more deals than Sony

What are you targeting? I don't know how low to expect 83" to go this year ... or just compromise with this one.

Edit - The lowest I've seen for 83" is 3800-4000 range. Thats almost double this price OMG
its been around 3400 for awhile through a few retailers. The place that we can't talk about here for example has it there.

I was wondering the same thing. Will Costco price match this? I would rather buy through Costco and get a warranty.

FYI - OLED TVs are not for bright rooms.
Check rtings, thats not correct.

People read things as binary and it simply isnt the case. Just because something is "better" doesnt mean the other thing "just doesnt work" rtings and others have highlighted that its perfectly watchable...it just wont be as bright.

I have a C7 in a room with 3 huge 60x60" windows....no issues during the day, is it as bright as my LED in the other room...no, but i would say we are talking +/-10-15% difference... unless you have literally the sun shinning on the screen, you are fine.

literally rated a 9.3 out of 10 for reflections, thats better then all but a few tvs.

"The LG C1 has superb reflection handling. The glossy finish and anti-reflective coating significantly reduce the intensity of direct reflections. Visibility can still be an issue if you have a lot of sunlight, though, due to the TV's relatively low brightness with some content."
