These are terrible thing to feed your child or yourself before bed.

Not only do they contain sugar that can cause cavities, but eating sugar right before bed is the worst time you could possibly have sugar. When you sleep, your mouth is drier than other times of the day. Without saliva to buffer acid from bacteria eating sugar, you'll get cavities. If it is your under five year old child, this most likely means a trip to the hospital where they'll tape their eyes and mouth shut, insert a tube for them to breath, and put IVs in their ankles to sedate them for treatment. Not very cool.

So you think, oh well, we brush after gummies. Still a poor choice. These contain acids to make them sour like fruit. That drops the mouth down below the critical pH of enamel and dentin. So, when you brush, the abrasive wears away your enamel at an accelerated rate. Now you might not get as many cavities, but you'll get acid erosion. It's your teeth dissolving either way.

So just swallow a pill if you take this at nighttime. If you can't swallow a pill, then you probably aren't old enough to decide whether you want to take the dietary supplement anyway.

Melatonin for kids... My kids play tennis, swim and no electronic device after 5pm. They sleep like a log. Different kinds of science I guess...

Or swallow the gummies without chewing. There's no doubt a lot of people who knows nothing about supplements, but that's not necessarily the case though I'm sure the rhetorical PSA will reach someone who doesn't. I wouldn't bother because of dosage. Might be easier to split a 1mg in half but not going to bother trying to do 2.5 into fifths, and that doesn't automatically mean regular usage btw.

Anything in moderation is fine. And, supplements like this are usually 2 gummies for a total of 5mg of melatonin. And, a milligram is extremely small. Our bodies already produce melatonin naturally, so these are more of a placebo effect than anything else.
