Since when is shipping of knifes restricted to California? Bought these before including buying it also via OKC via Walmart. Seems listing has a bug …

It's probably related to Prop 65, that list is now up to 900 items it will get more difficult to purchase products in CA.

I own the Rat2 and it is great. That is my personal opinion.

In general (and beyond my personal opinion, to the knife community as a whole), these are considered one of the best budget knives that you can get.

Is this a China made knife? If so, no bueno.
I believe it's Taiwan.

They're very practical knives. Won't weight your pants down. Clip options. Not so expensive you baby them or keep them in a drawer. Easy to sharpen and durable.

Quality control is a bit hot or miss. I have 2. I liked the first one until I got the 2nd. The new one was sharper and the action was so much smoother. So I used that as the model to fix the first one. Gave it a sharpen and took it apart so I could apply some dry lube and adjust the tension a bit.

Ironically, some people spend multiples of the knife cost to customize the RAT.

Not sure these prices are much of a deal. These seem to be pretty close to typical amazon prices.

These are regular prices for Aus-8 RATs on Walmart, shipping will take around 10 days.

In for 1 more RAT II. As much as I hate to admit it, my RAT II opens better than half my Benchmade and Spyderco knives. Surprisingly smooth and fast action with no spring assist. I cycle it through as an EDC, and I'm very picky about which knives I'll daily.

I got one of these on the last sale. Very cheap feeling. I prefer kershaw stuff at this price point.

I agree! For a working knife, AUS-8 is a bit softer and easier to sharpen or just touch up. It is also more corrosion reststant than D2. D-2 is a harder steel and will hold an edge longer but the hardness can make it prone to being more chippy than AUS-8. If you would like a working knife that will take a beating, I would pick AUS-8.

My favorite EDC is the rat 2, nice and slim, quality construction for the price range, and since it's so cheap I don't think twice about beating the hell out of it

You should try out 14C28N, much better steel than both AUS-8 and D2, at similar price.

Not sure it's better than D2 at holding an edge.
