Suggest you find out what MERV your HVAC manufacturer recommends. I was using MERV 13 in my Rheem units that are 4 years old. My upstairs unit struggled on hot days to keep it cool. Turns out Rheem recommends 8-11. I replaced them with Merv 8 and it immediately made a world of difference in ability to cool house! Flow increased substantially! Using a higher MERV will filter out more but can restrict flow if your unit. Check your HVAC manufacturer's recommendation.

I went one step further and went down to 'Merv 4. Airflow through the system probably doubled and cooling went through the roof. Your hvac system is not designed to act as a whole house air filter. Use the merv recommended by the manufacturer to keep the largest particles out of your air handler and nothing more

This is BS. They were never that expensive to begin with. Costco, much as I like them, are becoming really annoying. They are rapidly becoming the store where you can buy items in bulk at the same price everywhere is selling them in smaller quantities. Who needs to pay an annual subscription for that?

Thanks OP. Ordered 2 packs of 2 of the 16x25x5 size. MERV 12 matches the filtration level of the Nordic Pure ones that I usually order from Amazon.

No Merv 13. Which are the minimum for wildfire smoke.
According to 3M the 2200 is Merv 13: https://www.filtrete.com/3M/en_US...207&rt=rud

Unfortunately, the regular 2200s aren't also on sale to be cheaper than the "smart" filters. I don't feel the need to have an app tell me to change my filter (I already have a Nest and fiance doing that) or another piece of tech garbage to dispose of.

The Filtrete 2200 link would be Merv 13.

Being a cheap b*****d, I buy ones off Amazon Warehouse and just cut them to size. Dented or banged up a bit still work just fine . I need 12x18's and 18x18's. For me, the perfect score are 30x18's which cut down perfectly. One side not having a frame stays in place without issue.

Prices are stupid right now. Got the 6 packs of Nordic pure in 2020 for $24 a pack. They are $50 now. Now 65 for a 4 pack is a sale.

We have a Lennox furnace. Reading the reviews, I see a lot of complaints about the 4" and 5" filters not fitting. I ended up buying 16x25 in both 4" and 5". I'll see which size works the best, then return the other. Nice to see these available through Costco.

Check your current filter since I'll have the size indicated on it
