Not an expert by any means but have been obsessively researching C1 vs A80J for the past few weeks for myself. The general consensus seems to be C1 if you're a gamer (4 HDMI 2.1 ports, better response time) and A80J if you're a casual all-around viewer who does tv/movies most of the time (the XR chip/sony programming is unmatched for upscaling, smoothness, and colors). A huge oversimplification I'm sure but that was my take on the debate. If it helps I just pulled the trigger on the $999 A80J deal at Amazon. Would've loved that 3-yr costco warranty but it appears to be OOS/won't ship to my part of the country (NYC).
When I was deciding between LG C1 or Sony on the OLED, I went with Sony for these reason:

The color right out of the box looks more accurate (select expert1) and with minor tuning it will look good enough for me without having to pay someone to calibrate it.

It use Google TV, instead of WebOs, have more apps. I use Kodi and VLC to stream my videos from my computer to the TV. The chip in the Sony is strong enough for my video decoding.

The Sony also seem to upscale 720p/1080p better than the LG,, or in way it makes it easier, I can just turn the reality creation to auto or manual 30 and it will look pretty good.

The sound on the Sony is really good for tv speakers. This TV have their Acoustic Surface Audio+ technology which the screen actually vibrates like a speaker to produce clear sound and it also have a subwoofer. It was good enough for me that I didn't even need to re-hook up my old sound bar. you can just select sound to cinema and it will give you some virtual around sound .. you can change some equalizer settings to give it a bit more base .
something like this
125Hz on +6
250Hz on +4
500Hz on +2
1kHz on 0
2kHz on 0
4kHz on +2
8kHz on +4

have 3 USB input. 2 on the side and 1 USB 3.0 in the back.
3 Year Manufacturer Warranty
2 yr. Bravia Core Streaming + 10 Movie Credits

But if you use your Costco Citi Creditcard purchase , when the warranties run out. you will then get an extra 24 months added to your warranty. So that would add up to 5 years for warranty. 3 years of Manufacturer warranty and 2 years of Costco Citicard warranty .

But if you add in the extra all state 3 year ($65), it can add up to 7 years if you use a Costco Citi card,

*Year 1, 2 & 3 - Manufacturer warranty. Allstate enrollment provides additional coverage for Years 3, 4 and 5. and Costco Citi card will be year 6 and 7.

Hmm I usually watch movies. I have the LG C1 55 inch with the EVO panel and the 3 additional years warranty with Allstate. Should I return the LG and buy this Sony instead?

Note, this Sony does not have the additional Allstate warranty included.

Anybody with experience with these 2 models of TV, which would you go with for movies? There are only a couple left here so I wanted to see what you would recommend. I am ready to go pick it up today.

The 55 C1 that I have shows it is a WBE panel which is EVO. That is really the only reason why I am debating in returning the C1 in order to get the Sony A80CJ.

The thing is the comparison I am trying to make is that the C1 panel I have is WBE which means it is EVO. I don't think the Sony A80CJ is EVO panel. That is the only reason why I am debating on returning the LG C1 to get the Sony A80CJ.

Is there a way to tell which may be a Sony EVO panel from outside the box like how we can with the C1? I Google'd and could not find it. All they say is to do the "white screen" and see if it has a pink tint.

It's about the same price as Amazon. Any benefits to buying from Costco? 90 day returns vs 30 I think.

unfortunately, there's no way to tell from the box,, for the Sony you will need a meter to test the panel. The pink white screen thing doesn't always work

Can you explain what to do? Can we use any type of software on the computer to connect in?

I am heading to Costco to go pick up the TV.

from what I read, you will need to use those high price calibrator equipment to do a light reading to be sure..
