I'm sure this is a great deal, thanks OP. I just wanted to mention for those who only need to have color printing very occasionally, save yourself the money and check out your local library. I was pleasantly surprised that I could get color prints through the library online for pickup later. Of course you need a color scanner to do this but at least you don't have to worry about ink running dry if you don't use the printer often enough. And apartment dwellers don't have something else to drag with them if they move.
This usually means they updated the printer firmware. The generic cartridges are usually only compatible with the original firmware. Never update printer firmware if you plan on using 3rd party cartridges.
My parents have a similar Cannon Color Laser with a few more features than this. They really hate it for the cartridges. The official Cannon ones are around $300 for a full set so they purchase high rated generic ones on Amazon. It gives error messages every time you turn on the printer or try to print something it will give an error message of generic cartridges. It will not show how much toner is left in the cartridges just a ? when you check status. Sometimes it will not print for several hours because it says it is cleaning the toner cartridges. Cannon has figured out how to make your life miserable if you do not buy their overpriced cartridges. So just be aware before buying the printer.
FYI, this is a laser printer which doesn't suffer from the same problems of the print heads drying. They use toner which is a dry powder
Is this a good deal considering no toner included? Why the thumbs down?
Thanks for pointing that out. I just wanted to give an alternative for people who don't have enough need for a printer and give an FYI for the local libraries.
Don't know what you mean by thumbs down, if you're referring to me.
I've been using the MF-643CDW for 3 years, purchase directly from Canon as a refurbished unit. That was the last year that Cannon actually gave out full cartridge sets with a refurbished printers, and due to a glitch Canon actually sent me two full sets of cartridges. I'm still finishing up the last set of cartridges from 2 years ago. I think I probably have about 20,000 printed pages, many full color (graphics, not text), both from Mac and Windows, and mobile devices. And rock solid to the point that I purchased this MF641 for my parents and they have had theirs for almost 2 years, also with zero issues.

Edit: Must have been. Deal is dead
Still showing in stock, $160 with free shipping. Sold and shipped by Walmart.
I've noticed that quite a few people thumbs down listings for no apparent reason. I understand that you weren't calling out user Scrooged, but asking generally why is this listing being thumbs downed. Happens a lot to good deals; I guess it's true that there's no accounting for taste. If a deal is right for me I don't care what anyone else thinks; I go for it. Listening to the masses these days is sure to lead you down the wrong path.
Scrooged, thanks for your library suggestion. Libraries and reading aren't as popular as they were before the internet, and many people aren't aware of all the resources available there.

Amazon appears to have a 4 pack (black/colors) of high capacity toner 3rd party ink for about 70 to 80 dollars. Are Cannon laser printers good compared to other brands? Are they okay with 3rd party ink?

My dad has this model brand new and he liked it a lot for the first 6 months for whatever reason either it or AirPrint doesn't like it on an Orbi network. His apple devices find it about 50% of the time it seems.

Fyi: inkjet dries but not ink toner on laser printers. Toner comes in a powder form. (i might have this backwards) The toner has a positive charge and paper receives a negative charge. The toner is atteacted to paper due to the opposite charge. The drum in the laser printer than heats up and irons the toner on the paper. Similar to the old printing press.

Working rock-solid so far!
It's a steal for $160! Note that this model is without "D" (double-sided-auto-print).
(old Seinfeld reference; fans will get it)

Love the Canon laser printer.
Never had issues.
Toners seem to last forever.
Been rock solid have probably printed like 10k pages of mixed and haven't had to replace any toners yet.
