I've been using minox since 1992 or so. There was a time hanging out on hair loss forums where there is a lot of experimentation on various agents to grow hair back or keep what you have. I developed a recipe based on info on these sites that I have been using for many years - and I can tell you that it works for me!

If the straight minox isn't working then you can add finasteride (aka propecia). Beware that on some percentage of people finasteride/propecia will destroy your libido. It did to me when I tried it back in the 1999 timeframe. Took over a year to get back to normal when I stopped. But it DID grow hair!

There is a recipe called "Super Zix" that someone developed for hairloss that I borrowed some ingredients from and mixed up my own combo using the Minoxidil 5% base. Here it is if you want to try it or check out the Super Zix formula here: http://advinfoprod.com/hair_formulas_12.htm

1- 2oz bottle of 5% Minoxidil
150mg vitamin B6 powder
25mg pure zinc sulfate powder
400mg BHT (supposedly as a preservative)
600mg NAC (N-Acetyl-Cystine) powder
A couple of droppers of liquid Pygeum/Saw Palmetto
2 drops Neem oil (VERY oily, so only use a tiny bit)

Shake well before use, apply to head once or twice a day. I apply this once every evening. Two times might be better but one works for me. I apply over my whole head with a dropper, then massage in and let dry.
Their shipping and handling is so stupid
You probably saw the foam variant

Just FYI this is wrong. I saw these at Costco today. They are 100% definitely sold in store.
Pics or didn't happen LOL. Just kidding.
I guess you might have a unicorn store but this is not sold in stores.
Are you sure it wasn't the foam version? How much was it? If it was ~$40, that's the foam version. If it was ~14, it's the liquid one.

Since you are splitting hairs, technically, per each item number (SKU) which is a 6-pack of these items, not per individual item. laugh out loud
Correct! Per item = one upc scanned. Doesn't matter what or how many inside the box. TECHNICALLY, it is still one per item.

One order doesn't equal one item.
Per order = one TOTAL per receipt

I hope this helps

Sure it may have some of the effects of oral finasteride if topical is also absorbed. But the essential point here is that it has highest concentration at the site of administration -- the scalp -- and lowest concentration in the blood.
Compare to oral finasteride -- goes everywhere in the body and only some localizes to scalp.
Correct. That's where we need examination as to how much and how often to use "locally" for max benefits where needed. And less and less of it in blood stream to lessen or eliminate side effects. The study you referenced, though, has no such conclusion and doesn't even say if subjects grew hair where desired. I am perplexed as to no conclusive study has been finalized for topical finesteride when finesteride has out for over 24 years? Will read more into it later

And to others, I would still try Nizoral 2% shampoo that gives the same end results such as reducing dht on scalp, giving follicles reprieve from dht attacks. Everyone seems to respond differently, so you guys need to trial and test

actually it's a little more complicated than your respond. What you want is a derma STAMP or an electric derma pen like the ones made by Dr. Pen. Why? You want the angle of penetration of the needles to be as perpendicular to the skin as possible so you wont cause micro tearing/wounds. When you use a cheap derma roller, the needles don't penetrate the scalp at a right angle and therefore might cause tearing instead of puncturing the epidermis of the skin. I bought the A6S derma pen from Dr. Pen after trying a derma stamp. I want the derma pen to exert the same amount of downward force. With a derma roller or stamp, you have to press it down manually and sometimes you press it too hard or too light so it's inconsistent. Also you should not start out doing derma rolling more than once a week. Twice a week is too much for beginners. Never do beyond 1.5mm because you can hurt your scalp while getting no additional benefit going beyond 1.5mm. Of course the pain is progressive as you move higher up to a longer length. You're welcome!
How if I told you, you would likely get similar results from the so called cheap dermarollers? I need for scientific proof. This whole stamp and pen are just bell's and whistles to make money.

On a similar note, there was something called professional laser hair removal of undesirable body hair that cost several thousands of dollars and still needed multiple sessions. Now, I can show you a home laser hair removal device on Amazon for a paltry as low as $250, and will work wonders just using it in the comfort of your home.

Some microneedling devices work as "rollers" and can cause micro-tears in the skin leading to greater superficial skin trauma. In addition, devices that lack uniformity of needles can develop jagged or bent needle tips over the course of the treatment that would also create tears in the skin.
Also, you cannot adjust the length of the needles on a dermaroller like you can with a derma pen. So you will have to spend more money buying multiple rollers if you need different lengths. They also have derma stamps with adjustable lengths. I have yet to see a derma roller with adjustable lengths.

*Superficial* skin trauma is a valid point because we want the needles to pierce into skin reaching the neighborhood of follicles for follicles repair, and sub derma layers to induce production of collagen for wrinkles. However, I don't see that much Superficial damage to skin to call for alarm because your skin on microscopic level will heal itself quickly. Besides, good precise dermarollers should still be fine if used cautiously as to not cause too much drag on surface of skin. Not challenging your thoughts, but needed to present logic.

Now to your second point of adjustable needles, i find this useful feature and tempted to look into it. But know that physical principle of dermarolling would stay almost the same. Thanks for the info

Just an FYI/PSA— hair loss (which I have) cannot be reversed if it is receding. It is only treatable if it starts in the back and moves towards the front. Thinning hair and receding hairlines and not treatable without something like plugs. So just shave it off and live that #baldlife with me.

Like I said, an item is a singular item. So that term is not completely accurate every time. Once again, one scanned UPC/SKU can include more than one "item". So in your case, the term item is jargon, not reality.
A case of 36 soft drinks is rung up as a single "item number"/UPC/SKU, but it is 36 items. It is not an "item".

And you missed laughing out loud at what I did there about "splitting hairs". Oh well.

I chimed in since the semantics police came out with claws, my whole point was... touche!
Deep, I know.

WHAT HAIR?

LOL.

You put it on your blading spots, so there is not much hair.

The liquid runs too much, ends up where you don't want it.

You use the dropper to put a little of the solution on your head and then massage it in with the other hand before it runs down. Repeat until done. It's not that difficult.
