How big is the average garage? I think mine is around 400 square feet and I have an attic entrance. With the garage rails, I feel like I can't picture how something like this would fit if I ever intend to open the garage

With some taller garages people put them right above the garage rails so when the door is closed they can access them.
Also, most garage doors are 8 feet tall and a garage is 20 feet long. So there should be at least 10 feet of ceiling space that is not covered by the garage doors.

these are rated up to 250lbs... so my guess, it can hold full boxes, unless yours are storing dumb bells or lead acid batteries
