So the major perks here are late checkout and a possible room upgrade upon availability; as I understand it, correct?

Plus welcome points bonus (250 or 500)
Plus earning bonus
Plus "premium option" wifi available for free (if you're into that)

this is 90-day status challenge, 1 three-night stay = status until 2024

Amex platinum has had this for years. Also gives Hilton status. Glad to see Chase decided to join the party. Chase saphire reserve was giving a 50% bonus transfer to marriott. Not sure if it expired.

Marriott Gold isn't worth much -- better than nothing, though, I suppose. When Marriott changed the status levels several years ago, the old "Gold" benefits became "Platinum", but AMEX Platinum didn't change the free status accordingly, which was a significant reduction in that perk.

Gold used to grant access to the concierge rooms, but that's Platinum and above now. Of course, most of them aren't open these days anyway. Room upgrades have been scarce for some time (for me anyway), and I've been Titanium for a couple years and lifetime Platinum otherwise.

Bottomline is that I wouldn't run out and get Chase Reserve in order to receive Marriott Gold.

Couldn't have said it better myself… been hovering between Platinum and Titanium for years, definitely don't see anyone getting very far with just Gold status

One advantage of having Mariott Bonvoy Gold Elite status is it can be status matched to hotel loyalty programs like Hilton Honors Gold, Radisson Rewards, Best Western Rewards, Sonesta Travel Pass etc. and to car rental loyalty programs like National Emerald Club Executive Elite (and from there to Hertz Presidents Circle, Avis Preferred Plus etc.)

How do you get the others to match?

Amex Platinum offers this status upgrade for as long as you carry the card. Along with Hilton Honors Gold and more. Seems a far better deal.

Some of those mentioned have actual websites to match but others you will have to send an email with proof of your Gold Marriott status and they will match it. Worst case you may have to go in person and actually get the upgrade (I had to do this for my MGM Gold match from Hyatt Globalist back in the day now its online) . Just google whatever you want to match and someone will have explained it.

The major perk is being thanked for being gold. You are more likely to encounter a leprechaun than getting a room upgrade and late checkout is subject to availability. IHG gives late checkout to anyone with an account. You get 250-500 points welcome bonus per stay. Marriott frequently does not credit you points for your stay and it's more difficult than any other loyalty program to have that corrected. I'm gold elite and I use hotels.com when staying at Marriotts.

I went through the chase website and clicked on the promo. Within the promo page they ask you to enter your Bonvoy membership number. Sent them my number and within 3 days my account has been upgraded to Gold
