What's their unlock policy?
Even just to have as a tablet/wifi device this is tempting

Yea of course...Why wouldn't you be able to do that?
Joke's on you, all lagdroid phones sold by Boost lock you out of Wi-Fi functions if you don't activate it. Shit-tier MVNOs aren't in the business of subsidizing Wi-Fi use if you're not a subscriber

No 5g?
I live in the middle of nowhere and tmobile has 5g and att is intermittently turning it on testing and verizon is nearly done. Seems like unless you want a wifi phone of you are going to pay $50 mo for unlimited data you would want 5g coverage.

Source??
If you don't pay for mobile service the phone bricks and won't connect to wifi??
I am surprised Apple would allow this.

That does not happen on iOS. I have purchased a bunch of iPhones from pre paid companies such as total wireless and simple mobile. Currently using them as Wi-Fi devices just fine.
