I live in the middle of nowhere and tmobile has 5g and att is intermittently turning it on testing and verizon is nearly done. Seems like unless you want a wifi phone of you are going to pay $50 mo for unlimited data you would want 5g coverage.

That does not happen on iOS. I have purchased a bunch of iPhones from pre paid companies such as total wireless and simple mobile. Currently using them as Wi-Fi devices just fine.
