Can this make you sleepy?
Yes, if you apply it to your eyes and all around them peepers.

How does this compare to something like calamine lotion? Are there cheaper but comparable alternatives?
Actually, if you get the "clear" version of Caladryl (it's active ingredients are Praxomine...which Prep H also uses...and Zinc Acetate), it works great on poison ivy, for those wishing to avoid the Benadryl compound (Diphenhydramine). It runs less than $10 for a 6 oz bottle usually. If on a budget, drugstores usually carry their own brand for even less.
Regular calamine is great stuff, but it can get messy!

Buyers be aware - topical Benadryl is effective and preferred for some but most people would be better off with an anti inflammatory like hydrocortisone. Benadryl will only work for histamine mediated itching - and even then many people with histamine itching don't seem to respond to Benadryl. Hydrocortisone works for more conditions, and works for just about everyone.

Got this last time a deal hit the front page. This stuff is AMAZING. We have a crazy amount of mosquitos in my neighborhood so bites are plentiful. Used this all over my arms…my bites didn't itch at all and went away much faster than usual

To the hemmoriod guy- my friend said it worked great on front privates so it should work on back.
Nice, I think I got eczema or something. Cortisone helps sometimes, but I'll try this.

A sensitive question, hopefully I am not getting "stoned" for this. Does it help with the itchy "down there", as in my little "weiner"? I can't seem to find any cure for this.

Alcohol free aftershave balm actually works great. I used the Nivea sensitive cooling one and it helped tremendously

What about claritin or zyrtec? Are they effective if you crush them into a paste and apply topically?

Does the gel work as well as the spray? We love the spray because it relives the itching almost immediately.
