Then I saw it again for $17 in 2021. My GF wanted them for desk lighting in hotel rooms. So I ordered a second pair. The newer ones have a much higher quality light. They still have a bit of a green shift, but much-much better than before.
A major design flaw is that the black plastic side casing reflects the light back, and said reflection gives the lights (both the old ones and the new ones) a yellow hue at the edge of the beam.
So yes, good for travel desk lighting in hotel rooms (which are always super dark), but not so much for photo / video lighting.
I'm finding lots of use cases for the cheap plastic light stands / selfie sticks that they come with though. They are super light and easy to travel with.
And yes, the color gels are weird / awful / useless.
Great value for $17 if you don't mind their limitations.
