I purchased the newer Series 9 Pro for $249.99 when they were both on sale, and it's been the best experience I've had with a Braun razor.

It does work as advertised at providing an efficient, gentle shave. Those that respond well to electric razors will enjoy either of these models.

That being said, I still personally get an unacceptable level of irritation which may mean I need to adjust my routine. Build quality is great, and the best shave ever is possible by combining this with a single-edge razor.

I've so far tested dry and wet on 1-day, 2-day, and 8-day beards.

P.S. - this particular model is apparently $149.99 at the warehouse.

Ahh the irritation is not good! I'm using the oneblade right now which is great but doesn't give a close shave

You need a good after-shave. I used to have irritation after a shave and started using Paula's Choice Soothe + Smooth. It's a little pricey, though it completely cured the irritation. I used to get little red bumps all over my neck and it totally got rid of that.

I highly recommend the OneBlade Core single-edge razor. Philips Norelco OneBlade is great for body grooming, not as great for the face IMHO.

I've been very cognizant of using proper technique. I might stop using steam to open my pores beforehand, but ice cold water after a shave is an amazing everyday luxury.

One reason is I'm tempted to shave every day with this, which is why I got it in the first place but it doesn't give my face a chance to calm down if I get too much razor burn or razor bumps. Counter-intuitive, but I'm going to try to let my face get accustomed to this and also not overly rely on the redness relief gel and oil I was recommended at my local outlet. I also find it's best to go over in multiple passes with and against the grain. Braun recommends doing one or two passes against the direction of hair growth, which I may experiment with doing.
