My friend has this tent, and last time we went camping it was super cold outside at night. We just sat inside the vestibule in chairs with just one propane lantern going and the heat from that kept the whole vestibule warm inside.

Nice size too! I personally have the Nemo Wagontop 6 which I personally like better due to the design and interior space, but i would love it even more if it had a vestibule as big as this tent.

anyway, hope this helps someone! đŸ™‚

"The half fly and completely mesh front doors are a terrible design that fails any time the tent is placed in windy cold, sandy or dusty areas. The half fly directs wind directly into the tent via the mesh openings at the top of tent. Along with the full mesh front doors, dust and sand particles easily enter and accumulate inside the tent"

Posted this on the other deal for this today. Anyone know if this is the newer version? I bought this at REI during their yearly biggest sale everrr (lol) and there were two different Wawona 6 being sold. According to TNF, the new one was double walled.

Every time I've seen this for sale below list price, it's been the old version.

This appears to be the old version. REI answered a question about this at https://www.rei.com/product/18629...tent-2020:

The differences are the new version listed below has 2 doors with vestibules for additional storage. Also, the fabric is a polyester that is not treated with flame retardant.
Since this one is nylon, not polyester, it appears to be the old version.

Hmm but the listing for the color is the newer version "Exuberance Brown Orange" vs old version "Golden Oak"

Nylon is much better than polyester most of the time

It said double wall.. it should be new version. Personally I prefer single wall. It is better for cold weather and better rain protection. Hopefully I will get old version, but I am sure it is more hard to get old version on 2022.

I have the 4 person Wawona and really like it. Yes, the half fly is a strange choice because it barely covers the mesh. That said, this really isn't a tent for extreme elements. It's like 6 feet tall so you're never going to heat the whole space anyway.

Heavy rain usually ok for the half fly. For cold weather you need cover mesh with thermal blanket on any tent

I have the old version of this 6 person tent and it's fun for car camping. Single wall but has plenty of flaps for ventilation. The vestibule has been a life saver for us on a few occasions due to rain or high wind. We've even cooked breakfast on our little camp stove in there when the wind kept blowing out the flame.

I did buy beefier tent stakes and I'm glad I did. The first time we took this out, we have 30-60mph winds. This tent is not exactly aerodynamic but it held together just fine once the straps were tightened.

We've used it in the rain twice and didn't have leaks.

Its just a large, breathable tent. Do not take this out in the cold, you'll freeze. The color does seem to attract bees but it's also easy to find. It's also not an easy up tent - it has two big poles that cross and one pole for the vestibule.

You need a good chunk of flat space to set this beast up. We bought the matching floor print tarp but it was difficult to find back in 2020.

The pictures posted here are the new version.

Wow, great find. Is the 4-person version as tall as the 6 person?

I was considering this one https://www.amazon.com/dp/B083T6WJKD/?coliid=I3IFKGIG5B1F0D&colid=22IMFRSLHTIT4&ref_=lv_ov_lig_dp_it... [amazon.com] but The North Face was my runner up. Debating which would be the best option.

This has been on sale for like the last week at sunny sports. They had a 25% off that expired on July 4th. The price came out to $280 after tax and it has been confirmed that it's the newer double wall version.

Not sure if they still have a coupon going on now or not but this is a solid deal!

OP, thanks.

To let others know, looks like code CF284 works on other tents on sale.

For ease of setup:
Not easy with one person.
Very straightforward and simple for two people, especially if you understand how to setup a dome style tent.

Overall I found this tent to be easy for a 6+ person tent. Easier than the kingdom 6 or kingdom 8 and other cabin style tents.

Not as fast as coleman instant tent but I wouldn't take the instant in the rain.
