It's not good for much more than a nightstand alarm clock with Alexa features. Many of you have cell phones with larger screens. I own about 20 Echo devices and they are so loaded down with unnecessary stuff. Ask a simple question and it will answer and ask you several more questions in return. I just want it to shut up sometimes...lol

I specifically bought the eco show for blink. It chimes for the doorbell and i can view the other cameras. the chime is really the most useful part.

Using it for amazon music is good. otherwise i try to run most my smart home stuff via google.
I have Blink doorbel, how do I use echo show 1st gen as chime?

Submitted the trade-in and I did not get the 25% off immediately Frown
Previously years when I did the 25% off trade in, I had to send them my device and they verified it as good then refunded me the 25% off the purchased price. Other times it gave it to me right away and would show the credit for the trade in.

See attached for examples.

I traded a 1st Gen Echo I was no longer using.

The 25% savings was applied before the $50 discount, so for me it was $13.74 before tax.

Plus I got a $25 gift card for the 1st Gen Echo, so I came out ahead.
Thank you! This is what I was going to ask, if the 25% off came off the full price. Once in awhile that happens, and it makes for a sweet deal. If I traded my 1st gen show, it gets $20 for it plus the discount, so I'd come out ahead too. Or I could trade in an old dot and get $5 back plus the discount. Very tempting.

Thank you. I want to use Alexa to control my home automation. Do you have blink doorbell by any chance and able to see it on the show?

Replacing old echo dot in my bathroom with Echo Show 5... won't have to keep asking Alexa what time it is in the morning. Yaaay!

Lookup suggested settings to reduce some of the questions (this helps a little). AND I've discovered if you change its accent to British, it asks far fewer followup questions.

Just sharing that these are becoming increasingly unstable as Amazon continues to load them with bloatware. We have a dozen or so Echo and Echo Show devices (5, 8 and 10) between two residences and all of them save the original 1st generation Echo have gotten so slow and unresponsive that it is beyond maddening. Echo Show 10 (3rd generation) was our last try and we sent them back as they were barely functional out of the box and just could not stand the constant pressure to try new things that could not be shut off. Sidewalk was also so frustrating to see implemented. I have no idea if Google or other platform is a better assistant but we are moving away from Amazon for these reasons.
Yeah, I haven't bought any Echo Shows yet, but I have two Google Home Hubs (1st gen and latest gen) and I don't think I'd switch. I have a couple of Echo Dots but I rarely use them. I use my original Google Home "Air Freshener", my 2 Google Home Minis and the 2 Google Home Hubs way more.

Like everyone have said these things are really slow and stutters so bad even with simple things like swiping down and left.

It's great as just a clock, simple Bluetooth speaker (audio quality is not great but I don't really care) and simple Alexa commands so I am fine with it because that's all I need it for but beyond that the Show 5 is absolute garbage in terms of performance.

Once I realized I got 25% off the full price, I went ahead and traded in my oldest echo dot. This came to $9.83 after the trade-in and $5 I get for the dot. I believe I was given the instant 25% off because the dot was already registered to the account I was buying from, and it showed up in the list of trade-in options without my having to add it manually.

I am pretty sure it was configured in the via the blink app on the phone. I cannot recall though. explore around the app. Echo Show 8" Gen 1 and Echo show 5" Gen 2 both sound chime when blink doorbell rings.

Blink is an Amazon company so it only works well with Amazon Alexa gadgets not so well with Google home.

Yeah you can view and hear chime form blink doorbell. its literally the only real useful feature for me. Blink is an Amazon company so it integrates well.
