Just sharing that these are becoming increasingly unstable as Amazon continues to load them with bloatware. We have a dozen or so Echo and Echo Show devices (5, 8 and 10) between two residences and all of them save the original 1st generation Echo have gotten so slow and unresponsive that it is beyond maddening. Echo Show 10 (3rd generation) was our last try and we sent them back as they were barely functional out of the box and just could not stand the constant pressure to try new things that could not be shut off. Sidewalk was also so frustrating to see implemented. I have no idea if Google or other platform is a better assistant but we are moving away from Amazon for these reasons.

Like everyone have said these things are really slow and stutters so bad even with simple things like swiping down and left.

It's great as just a clock, simple Bluetooth speaker (audio quality is not great but I don't really care) and simple Alexa commands so I am fine with it because that's all I need it for but beyond that the Show 5 is absolute garbage in terms of performance.

Lookup suggested settings to reduce some of the questions (this helps a little). AND I've discovered if you change its accent to British, it asks far fewer followup questions.

Don't think so, but it might be worth saving your trade in credits for a higher priced device though, 20% is only a $6 saving

I had never used a trade in credit before but I have 2 old echo shows that are SUPER slow so I decided to use a trade in for 2 separate transactions here. Without the visa CB, my first order was free. The second came to 22.**.

I bought 2019 version, use it daily for alarm and streaming music, well worth $20 at the time. In recent months it does randomly restart or freeze. Is it worth trading in for new version?

You can't trade-in a Kindle for an echo device. You can only trade-in an echo for another echo device.. or a Kindle for another kindle

I do, but I don't think I ever got it to work, I'll try again! Thanks for the reminder. I still would like to get this for kitchen, so wife can also ask quick questions, recipes, weather, etc and still be able to see the cameras without having to get to her phone or tv.
