Looking at the Tom's Hardware numbers - if you are editing and/or moving large files, the Seagate Firecuda 530 or the Sabrent Rocket 4 Plus outperform EVERYONE else, substantially. But there is a limitation where the Hybrid P41 dominates - thermal efficiency. If you are putting this in a laptop or a micro-enclosure, the reduced heat could actually let it beat a Firecuda during sustained usage after the Firecuda throttles due to heating.
I love the Sky Hynix P31 (nvme3 version) and the new drive here is the ONLY drive that beats it in thermal efficiency. Also, all of the other benchmarks are top of the line, literally, so with the exception for sustained large file writes, the P41 is the best choice, and in a portable machine receiving any kind of rigorous use, the only choice IMHO.

Just FYI. To do video editing, there will be no difference between an old sata ssd, gen 3 or gen 4. The data can only write as fast as the cpu and GPU combo allows. And if your running a good mid range system, at most you would see written would be 30-50mbps which is perfectly acceptable

The P41 runs cooler than the P31? I thought it produces more heat since it is Gen4?

Less heat per operation. So after the same series of operations, over the same time, the P41 is cooler. It is so much faster that you can probably get it hotter, because you are doing so much more. Doing the benchmark this way doesn't let a manufacturer game the benchmarks as easily. BTW it has a new controller chip, +1 gen above the P31.

Anyways, look up sabrent m.2 external enclosure on your favorite internet retailer. They make pretty good products for that purpose.
