Hoover-1 is owned by the parent company DGL Group - the brand is absolute trash. I bought one and the frame where they machine-press the front frame to the wheel which came apart - they will absolutely not guarantee their product - before buying - look at their reviews from employees and past purchases - they have so many consumer complaints against them - its unbelievable ...do not buy their product

Not bad for $200
But for $200 more you won't regret this one.

I'm personally waiting for prime days to see if there's any scooter deals.

I have one of these. Got it for my kids. It ran great for a while until it got a flat tire (popped) on the rear. Holy crap is that hard to change out due to the hub motor. I ended up putting in a hard rubber tire so it'll never go flat again. Finally got that changed, which is hard as he!!, then the break, which is electric?? became locked up. I emailed asking about a potential fix. They didn't have anything other than try checking the throttle. There isn't much on YouTube about this particular one by Hover1, so not a lot of videos on it. If you buy it, don't have adults ride, probably what popped the tire. Be wary of the break issue. I got it for $150 2 Xmas' ago for the kids, may have gotten that dollar amount worth, but it's more likely a $100 purchase for me now that I've gone through it.

I ordered one from Walmart for $ 188. Arriving tomorrow. Let's see how this performs or will have to repack and send back to the store.

Got my scooter delivered by FedEx... without any damage. Took it for a test drive... got 4 mile range in half battery. Decent pick-up, but acceleration is very weak on any hill/slope.

For 200 bucks it is good way to try your hands on a electric scooter... This is good for flat road neighborhoods or beach areas.

Will easily get a out $100 back by selling it on Facebook marketplace in couple of months.

9mile range... I hope that's accurate. Usually I get a littl more thab 1/2 the stated range of most scooters or e bikes. Keep that in mind.

So I bit the bullet on this deal and will be returning the scooter. We bought the refurbished alpha deal a couple weeks ago so that's all I can compare it to. Decided to buy a second scooter and went with this one since the alpha was sold out and also hit or miss in terms of the refurb quality.

Pros: Range and max speed are accurate (but I'm nowhere near the max weight so YMMV, literally). Max speed going uphill was 11 mph, not too bad given the motor. I like the 3 different modes to cap your max speed depending on the situation, including slowing you down when you're going downhill. Lightweight compared to the alpha for better portability. LCD display is a plus.

Cons: Abrupt brakes makes it feel dangerous on a road with pedestrians or traffic; either hit them, get hit, or go flying. Narrow 8.5" tires mean feeling every little bump (which I didn't think would be that different from the 10" tires on the alpha, but I was wrong). Smaller issue is the non-slip sticker on the base was peeling straight out of the box and doesn't seem like it would stay on for long, especially if storing outside.

Overall, I think it's a decent scooter and price if you just want to try out an electric scooter or will only use it occasionally. But since I want a daily commuter on a street with some traffic, I'm going to spend a little more for bigger tires and a disc brake.

I just returned the alpha because it had a warped brake disc. Back to the drawing board...

I feel under $800 you're better off with a manual bike. Many nice bikes under $400.
