Idk about the opinion of the community at large, but for me, the controls for skyward sword are so completely trash that the game is unplayable. There are few customization options and they're also so bad.

Beside from the fps drop maybe a bit annoying but the game are quite fun Warriors game and have good story.

Idk about the opinion of the community at large, but for me, the controls for skyward sword are so completely trash that the game is unplayable. There are few customization options and they're also so bad.

agree. love zelda games and would not recommend skyward sword (unless you enjoy using the motion controls). button controls are awful.

Came here to say the same thing. It's virtually unplayable, especially with the switch's controller issues. I actually got the Wii version a few months ago. I'm thinking about pulling my Wii out and trying to play it on that.

Same. This is the only Zelda game I just straight up gave up on. I made it about 5 hours before I couldn't take it anymore.

I played until the first time I had to fight the big beasts toes going up the spiral ramp. Was ridiculous!

The combat button controls were not so bad once you got used to it. It is weird at first but the game had a good story and you can see where botw evolved from.

Are the switch controls worse than the wii version? I've been considering picking this up, I had a much better time with skyward sword on the wii than I did with breath of the wild on switch, and while I remember the controls being not amazing, the only time I remembering them being hair pullingly awful was in that dumb minecart tilting mini game.

I've watched a bunch of comparison videos online about the differences between the two versions, and there are a surprising amount of improvements, but I never considered that maybe the switch joycons themselves might be worse than the wii mote +. Or that holding the small joycon in comparison to the larger wii mote, feels worse in the hand due to how small it is, like maybe the wiimote is more "sword feeling" (as much as a controller can feel like a sword anyways) than the much smaller joycon.

I got through skyward sword by constantly switching between button and motion. Sword slashing directions with joycon is actually much easier to get right, but for everything else button controls work better (I used pro controller). Was a pain but got me through the game. For the final boss fight was a pain but doable with invincible potions

No. Theres some weird motion drift at times, but I didnt find it unplayable by any means. They also made some changes to the game structure/tutorial help that made the original just brutal to play. That said, it shouldnt have cost $60 up front, this is a perfect $20-type game to experience an old Zelda game after BOTW.

Though, Im of the opposite mindset of you, I loved BOTW and the open world, so it was tough to go back to the very point-to-point driven style of Skyward Sword
