Don't do it. I had the PRO for 2 weeks. I have always been a Samsung guy but I have been wanting to move away.
This is probably be the last time I'll try Google phones. Here's what I learned for that 2 weeks:
* Yes, it's clean. Not bloat ware.
* Yes, it has great camera.
But that's it.
* Its slow. Really slow. Slower than most.
* Shockingly, the fingerprint was okay (there were issues at first). But not, as good as Samsung or even the iphone face unlock.
* Slow charge. I kid you not. Really really slow.
* That bevel. Its huge.
* Buggy, I had so much glitches within 2 weeks.
Better camera on the 6 for sure (vs. 6a) and have a few flagship pluses like wireless charging.
But the phone is weirdly bulky with underwhelming battery life and a crappy Fingerprint reader.. They are still dealing with bugs 9 months in.
Meanwhile the 6a was shrunk .3" and they made hardware changes on the fingerprint scanner. Camera definitely is old (but still very capable and top of the class for a mid range shooter).
Honestly the 7 is the one to wait for if flagship is your want as it adds the second gen tensor processor which should be more efficient and they are rumored to be Shrinking the handset to make it less bulky. Plus it's getting the new Fingerprint reader the 6a is getting.
If it's $599 like the 6, it will be worth that.
6 was a step in the right direction but suffers from too many first year model issues for a new gen. The savings here just isn't good enough this close to 7.
Thanks OP! I've been contemplating purchase of a new phone, and this is a good deal. Here is a Best Buy link for a similar product:: https://www.bestbuy.com/site/goog...Id=6483635
Select "Activate Later" to get the 128 GB Pixel 6 for $499.

Total waste of money. The worst phone I had by far.
Fingerprint barely works (known issue)
Battery lasts until 6am-3pm I would say just by basic usage.
Gets warm to the touch so often that I have to use the car A/C vents to cool it down.
And so much more.
Been reading a lot about connectivity problems and overheating. That a shame because the price is good. Google needs to offer more than 3 years of support too.
My Pro has always worked fine. Even fingerprint through a screen protector. Unfortunately hating on it has become trendy.
The Pro is $200 off and I'd be willing to give that a shot at $699 vs. the 6 at $499. The 7 comes out in October and is actually using newer hardware for the finger print reader just a year in, hardware that has already been shown to be much better on the 6A.
The 6 Pro is strongly rumored to be getting Face Unlock which would help when it comes to unlocking the device over the wonky/slow fingerprint reader.
I originally had the 6 but I struggled with the phone signal and the fingerprint reader. My Pixel 3A, a mid level phone from 2019, was faster and better in both areas. I returned the 6 in time and I'm still rocking my 3A which works well but I want an upgrade.
Been monitoring the 6 since I returned it to see if improvements have been made, and they have over the last 9 months, but again this close to the 7 I think I need more than $100 off. Not to mention with the 7 launching with the Pixel Watch, and Pixel Buds Pro will be out . . . I'm expecting some decent bundle offerings to entice folks to get a Pixel or to those folks where Pixel 6 early impressions left a bad taste in their mouth.
