I just wanted to confirm if they'll charge me back for the 25% discount because I really don't want to send my trade in echo dot 3rd gen. I'd rather just keep it and have them deduct the $5 GC. If that's actually all they do..

Sounds to me like they can charge you the amount of the promotional credit...
If you selected Instant Payment and received a promotional credit toward the purchase of a new Amazon device and (i) you cancel the trade-in, (ii) your trade-in is not received by the date specified in the trade-in confirmation email you receive and as shown on Your Trade-In Account, or (iii) your trade-in is a Rejected Item, then you authorize us to charge your payment method for the amount of the promotional credit used.
Sounds to me like they can charge you the amount of the promotional credit...
