I bought a 32gb set of these for more a while back. At least they work well at 3200

yes to me. 99.9999% sure you wont need 64GB on a laptop. add a single 16GB DIMM to your exisiting one. you will feel no differenece

I'll second this. I felt a major difference going from 8GB single channel to 32GB dual channel, but unless (and maybe even if) you do extensive video editing, photo-editing, etc. you are most likely not going to notice any difference between 32GB and 64GB.

I am getting a framework DIY next month. Going to buy this for my kit. Likely not going to need 64gb today, but who knows

It's not compatible according to Dell's specs for the G15 5511 (the laptop on-sale this weekend):

https://www.dell.com/support/manu...lang=en-us

The max memory one DIMM can take is 16GB. So the max it can handle is 32GB DDR4 (2x 16GB modules), I see that's on sale for $89.99, so I'm planning to grab that for my laptop (I jumped on the deal as well).

I agree that you won't really see a difference between 32gb & 64gb at this point.

It's extremely easy to measure. you either use xx GB RAM or you don't. That's all there is to it. The risk right now is the future DDR5; is this an anchor in the past now or a worthwhile investment to preserve your existing 11th gen or similar gear for another 1-2 years? If there's a chance you're going 12th or 13th gen (or similar) soon enough, this may not be a good use of money.

If you are some geeks like to use many apps open, 64gb may be just right

I'll weigh in on this since others have and I have a slightly different view. While, yes, this is overkill, how does it compare to the 32GB sales right now? If you can get twice as much as something for the same price, why not do it? I know it should improve some large file download speed and installs for large programs and games. You'll know RAM isn't your problem when you have too many tabs open.
