With a single hose, you are blowing exhaust air out of the house. Guess what? Air MUST come back in. You can't live in a vacuum, LOL. So hot air from outside comes in around your door, down your chimney... wherever it can most easily come back in.

Basically, you create a cool zone around the machine itself, but the overall temperature of your total living space isn't really going down. Arguably, it could be going up, because you have a hot machine inside yourself, plus displaced air being sucked in from outside.

The tech data in the Hisense website says water is evaporated and sent out thru the hoses.

Anyone have experience with this smart controller [amazon.com]? Seeing as how this unit doesn't seem to include smart features, which honestly I think I need but definitely want, seems like a pretty handy device albeit a tad pricey.

Not sure on the quality of this specific model, but this is a great price for a dual hose unit. If you're going to get a portable A/C, get a dual hose unit like this, not only for efficiency but to avoid the negative air pressure issue.

It evaporates the water for 90 days and after that, you better keep a bucket close by because it does not evaporate anymore.

How flexible are the hoses? I can't set the ac directly in front of a window.

Sure. Just cut some material (plywood, cardboard, plexiglass, etc) to fill in the opening and then cut circles out for the hoses. I've ran portable AC units in windows/sliding doors that way. Tape/caulk it if you want it to be air tight.

Update: I just called my local Costco warehouse and they said this is an online only item so it's not available in any Costco warehouses.

How did you guys manage the water from condensation? We got the De Longhi and it produced a ton of water from the condenser.
This why i like hisense portable ac, never have to drain the water.

Costco doesn't have return limits on portable ac. The warranty is as long as you own it.

If they are willing to accept units in-store so you don't have to pay delivery, and will actually fix/repair the AC unit, this is a steal. I've had 2 single-hose Delonghi units fail 3 years in. My current dual-hose Whynter just outlived its 4yr warranty. All AC units fail and the issue is getting them fixed. Shipping is always insane, and local HVAC guys won't work on these at a cheap rate. A 4-year warranty costs me $70. If Costco is warrantying this for the life of the product, that could easily be 15-20 years, and several repairs/replacements. It just blows my mind as someone who has had to research, purchase, and live with several of these over the past decade.

This is concerning for me, because if they don't carry it in-store then there's a good chance they won't accept it in-store. Shipping for something like this will be exorbitant, and I'm sure Costco wouldn't force the consumer to pay. Still, an AC unit is a very failure-prone device, and most users will not exercise best practices for maintenance. I'm confident the vast majority of these will fail within 5 years, and none will be operational by 10. Will Costco still honor that warranty? HVAC labor is not cheap. I guess Hisense offered them a good rate on service and parts.

I recently bought delonghi 10,000 BTU for $370 from Costco. Can anyone tell me if it's worth returning delonghi and buy this one instead? In terms of warranty, efficiency, and noise? I appreciate any suggestions as I am new to this stuff

How does this compare to the Costco Midea DUO Smart 12k BTU (DOE/SACC) 4-in-1 Inverter Portable Air Conditioner that was just on sale for 399?

I've returned online orders in store before. Why wouldn't they take this back?
