A rare sale on the higher end shield tv. We are past due for an upgraded shield though both cpu and gpu. I think the GPU is Maxwell based so it's pretty old. A mini PC with a 6000 series AMD cpu and rdna2 GPU would probably run circles around this, but much more expensive.
Bahaa we're in a prime day recession and 15% off is all we get?
Lowest price on the Pro, ever.

If you don't have one, get it. Highly recommended, especially for Kodi and retro gaming. The SHIELD is better than the Firestick, Roku, Apple TV, and 99% of the Android boxes sold on Aliexpress.

As the other guy mentioned, we are WAY past due on getting a hardware upgrade, like it should've happened 2 years ago. Unfortunately with the current chip shortage I don't expect nVidia to introduce anything new for at least another year.

Hardware upgrade is pretty pointless for home theater use as it plays any 4k HDR/DV Atmos file I have just fine. Hardware upgrade would only be useful for gaming and I doubt many people use it for that purpose.

I bought this to replace a 1st gen apple tv 4k and the thing is absolutely stunning!! The AI upscaling makes this worth every penny. I paid 199.99 on the 7th, they just refunded me 21.xx since it's on sale. Nice of them to do that. This also works best with Plex and works as a streaming gaming console to connect to your steam/Nvidia GeForce.

At one point people said the previous gen was better or had features that were missing from the latest. Is that still true? I have a 2017 shield pro. Is there any reason to upgrade?

NVIDIA SHIELD Android TV Pro Streaming Media Player $169.99 on Amazon, which is a nice $30 discount and price, especially on a pro model.

Have 2 2015 Shields already but after being disappointed in the Firestick 4k Max's inability to pass through anything but DD 5.1 sound (no DD+ 7.1, No Dolby Atmos) I figured it was time to upgrade at least one to be able to get full DTS and 7.1 and Atmos sound along with Dolby Vision to push my new LG C1 and new Onkyo 6050 receiver.

You only need Prime if you want it to come in 1-2 days vs 3+.
