How does this compare to the version with includes a Wi-Fi bridge and requires batteries?
I mean this is way better, because you don't need the bridge, and you recharge the battery! The batteries claim to last up to a year so that's pretty sweet

Mine lasts nowhere near a year. But I still love it.
(To be fair this is probably because I have Home Assistant set up, and it probably pings it for status more often.)

How is the Home Assistant integration? Is it officially supported or are you using a custom integration? Do you know if it uses cloud or local connectivity?

I just google'd really quick and found a custom integration that supports nearly everything, as well as the official HA documentation, that indicates it only supports Lights and a Switch. Also, both support local polling.

I have both. This one the battery lasts about 3 months, while the other ones I have to change the AA ones every 5 months. The wifi range is about the same, this one doesn't need the bridge. Other than that, they both work the same.
