Both have their own very distinct sound. Sony is suppose to have superior ANC. I have the Sony xm3 and xm4 and love them both. They're quite comfortable but my ears begin to hurt after some hours. But I still love them! I've tried on older QCs and thought they were insanely comfortable. If you like bass and very defined terrible, the Bose are for you. I really don't think you can go wrong with either. Neither are audiophile level. Both are real fun.

Does anyone with these have issues with high pitched sounds being amplified? An example is opening a new 2L of soda. The CO2 pshhh sound is loud and painful.

Also, half the time I softly click the pause/play button nothing happens. It drives me nuts that I have to push it harder.

Otherwise, amazing headphones for my audio books.

Bose is playing catch-up in almost every meaningful category these days. Their qc45 doesn't compare to the Sony m5. Their earbuds can't compare to airpods and their soundbars r inferior to the sonos

Don't believe what people here say about the sound quality or comfortableness. They are all subjective. You need to try yourself.

If you want to use it on multiple (more than 2) devices, Bose is much better. Sony has a limitation.
