This is just baking soda and citric acid. You can make your own for much cheaper.

Citric Acid
https://www.amazon.com/Milliard-C...B00EYFKNL8

Baking Soda
https://www.amazon.com/Arm-Hammer...r=1-5&th=1

That's about $43 for 17 pounds = $2.53 per pound not on sale, can probably get smaller quantities for about $3.50 per pound, maybe cheaper on sale.

This deal is about $7 per pound and it's pretty much just these two ingredients.

I appreciate the calculations and links but after its all said and done, I don't want to end up with pounds of citric acid and baking soda...

Also curious. I normally just use old lemons and ice.

Avoid lemons or anything solid. Ice works great. That's what I was told by an apartment maintenance guy years ago. Garbage disposar should only be used for non solid waste. So no peels, coffee grinds, unless you get a few that end up in there

Also, if I had to quickly crunch through one of two things (and didn't care about taste), I'd sooner choose peels over chunks of ice!

Still higher than pre-pandemic $190 each (before S&S). But the world is now totally wrecked. Get whatever you can.

I usually use plink or the generic knockoff. Does this actually work better?

That's what I use as well and have for years. Ice sharpens the blades and peels have oils in them that make your disposal smell fresh. A few years ago I was living in a rental awaiting the family move and the disposal smelled awful and was always clogged. I ran ice and citrus peels through it and it ran great afterward and the awful smell was gone. Like John Candy in Splash, when I find a good thing I stick with it.
