1) I've seen these as low as $18 at Walmart, and
2) It's junk, I had one for my kid, it's a toy at best, and is frustrating to use as the balls go all over the place.

It's a toy, but pretty much worthless to try to hit the pitched balls because they are so sporadic.

I wouldn't buy this as a toy because it's all over the place. I wait for the SKLZ Lightning Bolt Baseball Pitching Machine go on sale for $35. it is a little better and last longer and has a power port.

I got this with zero expectations last time it was up for sale. We have gone through 5 sets of batteries since then. The kids love it, but I definitely had to put some creative engineering into getting it somewhat consistent. Milk crate + paver + some zip ties did the trick. Balls are getting a bit deformed now so I'm sure it will continue to degrade in consistency but for 20$ it's well worth it to us

I found that some wiffle balls create a far more consistent experience. The balls that come with it are bad and shoot all over the place.
