No. This is a trap to start buying expensive, tiny sheets of paper.

Had one from a different brand a while back, same concept. Wife loved it when she first opened it, decided it was not as convenient as promised, sold on eBay for half of what I paid for it. Gimmick.

You cannot beat $0.05 4x7 photos from Walmart, Walgreens, CVS, etc. Always check coupon codes before checking out.

The select uses paper that is a bit bigger than the normal sprocket and the photo paper is only produced by HP. With the normal 1st or 2nd gen sprockets you have options of 2x3 zink photo paper from hp, Kodak, Polaroid, canon, lifeprint, etc. Photo quality is lower than normal pictures. Please don't buy this thinking you can print quality photos at home. This is made for things like scrapbooking, journaling or little pictures to stick on your stuff.

In for 1, my daughter has been wanting one of these. This is the best price I've seen all year, normally these are $100 plus.

Got this for my grandma a few months ago and she loves it! she uses it pretty often to print pics of the grandkids and frames them. the photo paper is a bit pricey but well worth it's IMO.

I believe there are 1st and 2nd editions of this printer. Which is this?

Edit: I'm guessing the 1st generation uses the 2x3" photo paper and this one uses the 2.4"x3.4" paper

FYI this doesn't use ink..the ink is in the paper. This one uses the sticky Zink 2.4"x3.4" paper

looks like photo paper is 50 cents per sheet. Printing w/o ink does sound very convinient.

I haven't looked this up for awhile. Hopefully they didn't do something stupid like serial number sheets. But what you used to be able to do is take the used header sheet in the pack and just replace it. So Kodak and HP use a different Cover sheet to tell the printer what kind of paper it is. The ZINK paper itself is the same.

I guess this one is on sale because of the proprietary photo size. From a quick search , it doesn't look like other brands make this size.

Think of these like Polaroid pictures. These are often used for like scrap books or events where an instant print might be fun. There is a larger sprocket plus (I guess named select now) that uses this larger paper…

This should work with other "zink" paper that is available. Just make sure it's the right size.
