No that's just being paranoid. A good SysAdmin will do granular controls using endpoint protection programs and lock out mass storage devices while only allowing pass through plug and play HID devices. They can also use Applocker for granular controls for blocking Active X applications and self contained executables as well.
this. my laptops don't allow storage devices but allow mice, keyboards, and webcams.

Great webcam. I use it daily in Microsoft Teams and it allows for Windows Hello login, so I can securely login without my password. I swear by Windows Hello and not having to type stupid passwords into my computer just to login. I cannot wait for a password-less future.

It's asking me to install DroidCam client on the laptop. My work laptop is locked down for any program install. I need something that turns it into plug and play webcam.
How do you have a laptop so basic it doesn't include a camera, but with a config so sophisticated you can't install software? 🤯

You think laptops comes with cameras the quality of a high end cellphone?
I have Thinkpad X1 Extreme with 64GB RAM and all BTW. But the company has a group policy implemented that no software can be installed, actually can't even change basic settings.

I have one of these and they are pretty good but you should know that to use 4K you need an Intel CPU or NVIDIA GPU to get the hardware accelerated codec it wants.

I have neither.

Had Best Buy pricematch (Currently on BB for $199). Watch for the Model Number change between this and the Pro 4K, as Best Buy currently has the Pro 4K for $159, and the Brio still sitting at retail $199. You want the Brio, it's effectively branded as the "Business" solution versus the "Consumer" 4K Pro variant.

Brio - Model ‎960-001105
Pro 4K - Model 960-001390

They are *very* similar, but there are some differences. Biggest being the Brio has Windows Hello, Zoom, and a 7 ft cable length vs the Pro 4K's 5 ft cable.

Correct, and yes, very stupid from a marketing/product perspective. Misleading and confusing. Been in the market for an upgraded webcam for business and streaming, and went down the rabbit hole on this one.

Never really saw any comparisons until this article, which opened my eyes on webcams:

https://reincubate.com/support/ho...bcams-bad/

Prepare to be disappointed. First of all, you can't stream at 4K using most video conferencing services and even if you find software that supports 4k conferencing, few people have 4K monitors so the 4K feature is nearly useless for streaming. The 4K part you are paying for is only useful for a niche content creator market that records videos of themselves and uploads.

Apart from that, the general quality of the image on even the best webcams such as this one is below what even a 6-7 year old iPhone front facing camera could provide. You are better off pulling an old iPhone out of the drawer and using it as a webcam using free software available or getting the cheaper C920s.

The only thing this has over the webcam/phone options above is basically Windows Hello, which is facial sign on using infrared. If that is worth $144 to you, go ahead.

If it were really a tights security policy then they'd disable all USB.
Even when their IT hasn't closed off all work-arounds... You aren't supposed to actively circumvent their obvious lockout attempts.

Not the time or place to be Mr. Hackerman.

Unless your company rewards finding work-arounds they most likely punish for them.
