Burglars don't pick locks - except on TV. The majority of break-ins occur from unlocked buildings or kicking the door and the frame breaks out. Much faster than picking a lock.

Exactly what I was thinking. My guess is he'd pick it in less than 30 seconds because it doesn't seem to have any security measures in place. Would be good if you can change out the dead bolt with something better, but then the total price would end up being more than $50.

Edit: LPL did do a video on this exact lock (linked in a post below) and picked it in less than 45 seconds. There is at least some security measures in place, but "this isn't going to last long against a skilled picker."

Will this change old key to a new key? My house works with one key on all doors so will this need me to have 2 keys to maintain?

Most probably yes. You would have to get the lock rekeyed to match the key that you currently use for your other doors, so that you can continue using one key. But the idea of a combination lock is that you only use the key for this lock in an emergency, so may not be worth the additional cost.

This uses the kwickset brand keyway. So if your other doors are kwickset, you can get either of those re-keyed or possibly this lock re-keyed to match the others.

Since it's a kwikset key I wonder if I can remove the cylinder and replace it with a kwikset smart key cylinder.

Hyper tough as a lock… hmm this is interesting. I'd rather stick with Schlage or maybe kwikset or a wifi door lock.

I haven't seen a lock that LPL can't picked. If you ever try to pick a lock, it's not that easy.

There's no way any burglar is going to pick that lock. It was actually a relatively hard lock to pick. The ones you have to worry about are the ones where he can just pop open something and press a button or something...
