Possibly. Teccpo and Skil are equally poor quality.
Ratings are pretty good.

This has been on sale at Sam's and I think even Amazon recently for this price, but with a case and a lot more accessories.

if you don't mind the cheap no name ones here is one for $11. To me, it looks very much like the Skil.

you can also get a socket wrench for $14 and a driver/drill combo for $50. Cheap but don't expect to last.

I have one of theirs that is a different shape and it's quite good for what it is. This one is probably the same manufacturer as the Skil one.

The one in this deal pivots to either a straight or pistol grip. The one from Sam's doesn't.

Could someone please advise me on buying a cordless screwdriver such as this? I am very new to DIY but I want to get into it. Ideally I would like something quite light as I just want delivery of a very conventional amount of torque in a tight space (for ease in assembling things).

If someone has any suggestions on the ideal cordless screwdriver (e.g. light, as easy to use as possible, some safety features maybe), I would appreciate it.

I don't have this tool but have the non twist version.

This type of tool is perfect for putting together IKEA furniture, or any other type of boxed furniture. Its pretty lightweight, and has about as much torque as hand tightening to medium tightness. You don't really have to worry about overtorqing, which is why this thing is convenient.

I dunno if I would consider this a "DIYer" tool. This is not a drill/driver. Its not intended to replace or compete with 20v tool lines. This isn't the tool to use for woodworking. This is a homeowner tool you use this to put together junk you buy online, and for that purpose it excels.

Two negatives with this design. One is that the magnetic bit holders suck. Second, it charges by micro-usb. USC-C would have been great, but I'd take micro-usb over proprietary barrel charger any day.

Thanks for your reply. The only question I have is what you mean when you say "I don't have this tool but I have the non-twist version". What is the non-twist version of this tool?

And I appreciate the info on the wireless screwdriver vs. drill discussion. I am most certainly not looking for a drill at this stage.

Is there a wireless screwdriver that recharges uses USB-C that you'd recommend? It's not a huge deal I suppose, I figure these don't need to be recharged that often.

Also, great info with regards to the magnetic bit holders. What is the alternative--bit holders that screw into the rotating bit? I think I'd prefer those. I really do want one of these for "putting together junk you buy online" as you say. And I don't find myself doing it that often, but when I need to I think it would lead to a lot less fumbling around.

The one feature I'm also curious about is if any of these wireless screwdrivers would enable me to rotate the drill bit 90 degrees, so that I can turn screws in a situation where there isn't enough clearance for me to be directly in-line with the screw I am driving. If I could line up the drill that is positioned upside down and still hold the screw driver parallel with the floor, and have it work out which way is tightening it without having to use a lot of spatial skills to figure out which direction is clockwise, etc., that would be great.

Thanks.

Your most welcome!

I have this one. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product...UTF8&psc=1

The twist version in the OP basically turns the pistol grip one into this style https://www.amazon.com/Rechargeab...916LS?th=1 So the OP version can change between the two styles.

I don't personally know of a USB-C version of this tool, which is why I'm hesitant to ding it too much for Micro-USB. I'd agree its not that big a deal as battery life is quite good, so charging isn't that common an event.

I've used a couple of these small/lowish voltage skil screwdrivers and they're nice and practical. won't destroy things the way a 20V can, but fast and powerful enough to assemble most household items that don't use heavy screws/bolts.

I have a manual craftsman with the double-movement clutch so I'm happy with that, and also a 20V which is much better for heavier work. I even have a 4mm powered one that is pretty cool and about the right amount of torque for laptops, 2.5" peripherals (they're fine for 3.5" but better on smaller stuff), other small items with smaller screws.

It's not some magical feat that this works well, I think most of them do, it doesn't require a lot of power to assemble common household items.

AFAIK, these little screwdrivers are mostly liked, just not enough for bigger jobs or heavier screws/bolts.
