Lifespan of batteries are limited, so there's a trade-off from the reduced price of the refurbished products. Batteries represent a significant portion of cost so there's some risk the refurbished batteries are short lived and not providing the range and power expected.

Maybe get a smart plug (perhaps that cheap Kasa plug that everyone got free on Prime Day) and remotely shut it off after a few hours (depending on how long it will approx. take to charge).

When it was new, I hardly see the battery drop. After a year, on a full charged I still see the battery drop a notch doing full throttle to go up hill.
Also is it normal for it to have weak throttle when the battery is dying? Like there is no regulator to regulate the battery power. Does your battery indicator on the right handle get warm during use?
