Thank you, that is the correct terminology. Projector Central has a good write up on it:

https://www.projectorcentral.com/...efined.htm

It is enough to keep me away from buying this projector though considering it's basically a 1080p projector punching above it's weight class to achieve 4k. I think if you don't already have a good 1080p projector, then this would be a decent deal.
What UST doesn't do this? The top-end models in this category (LSP9T, L9G, HL85LA, T1) all do this. If you don't want pixel-shifting, then don't buy a consumer UST projector at all.

I have been on the fence for this projector for a while, but one of the things holding me off is that it's not a true 4K projector. It is using an overclocked 1080p chip to make it 4k. Also, I read that color accuracy was not the best with this unit either.

Another general thought, these Wemax deals pop up every few days now, one thing to note, is if someone is pushing something, then it's either worth less than they are asking, or it's old stock before new stock, just food for thought.
I bought one on the last sale, and it's really a terrific projector. Superb color, 4k resolution (pixel shifting projectors get 4k to your eyeballs, does it matter how?), good contrast and decent blacks. I actually prefer watching it to my Epson 5040ub.
Wish it did 3d though

Says no 3d?
Anyone have more info on the 3d?

8 days ago, says no 3d? wtf?
I believe that the screen portion of the thumbnail just came from its promotional materials, so the "active 3D" portion is saying that the screen is 3D compatible. AFAIK, the projector is NOT 3D capable.

Have you seen a pixel shifted 4k projector? If not then I'd reserve judgement. DLP projectors are inherently sharp and then with the pixel shifting they're very sharp. There are pixel shifting 4K DLP projectors that will appear sharper than native 4K projectors due to lens differences and other things we don't need to get into.

Been trying to buy an ALR/CLR screen for my UST. The price of this combo is basically the cost of a quality 120" ALR/CLR screen....

If you click on the product page itself (it does have the thumbnail as well), it states that it is 3D compatible. Might be similar to how they market "1080p compatible" for some projectors, when they native resolution is much lower at like 540p.

Maybe someone who owns this can chime in. Most reviews don't list it as 3D capable though.

My old 2012 Samsung 3D did have a feature that could convert 2D content to 3D, and it worked pretty decent. Not as great as 3D blu-rays.

This cant be compared to 1080p projectors, it's a 4k projector. The sharpness difference between this and any 1080p native projector is massive. 3 "main" resolution classes of home theater projectors in en-masse right now:
Native 1080p
Pixel Shifted 4k
True 4k

The sharpness difference between pixel shifted 4k and true 4k projectors is almost not noticeable at normal seating distances. There are other major difference, but it's not resolution/sharpness related really. Epson has a few projectors that are 'half' 4k, or double 1080p, but most common home theater projectors fall into 1 of 3 categories above resolution wise these days.

The reason to not get this shouldnt be related to the resolution at all. Again basically every 4k projector under $5k is pixel shifted to get a 4k image. The reasons to not get something like this is things like it's from Wemax, so good luck with a cheap Chinese brand projector if you have any issues, etc...There's a reason these things get so incredibly cheap over time, I wouldnt want to spend the money on these, even if saving a lot of money. I bet a lot of these get throw out after a year or two.

Personally I like to stick with the bigger brands - Benq, Epson, Optoma, etc..places you know you get support from. I have a 5 year old Benq HT2050 I've been using and it's been fantastic and Benq support has been amazing through it all between firmware updates, any potential issues/questions, etc. I'm still on the original lamp as well with no noticeable dimming so far - 2,600 hours.
I have the 2050 too, and love the picture. Just the fan noise that I do not like

I don't care if it's a Chinese company because 99.999999 electronics are made there. I do care about is " Is it the company wemax trust worthy?"

Been looking at this projector for a while to upgrade to UST so I can have all the devices and speakers in one location. I have a 110" screen but from what I read it won't work on UST. Screens seem overpriced and mine would cost $700+ to replace the current sheet and keep the frame. Cheaper to get this combo.

It's a crapshoot when dealing with Wemax. There's a reason why this deal comes back almost every other week. It's being pushed by SD staff. Look up the member reviews on dealing with customer reps. I personally would shop for a used name brand at Amz Warehouse. Better to buy used than a cheap Chinese brand like this. Good luck!

I wouldn't recommend gaming on something like this. The latency ruins the experience.

According to this YouTube review [youtube.com] the latency can drop down into the 40s, which is plenty fine for single player games (IMO) but would still impact any COD type multiplayer games.
