If it wasn't for the pandemic, the a7iii would be approaching this price and who knows how low the A7ii would be.

For you personally, this is not a great deal, because you dream of at least a7III for $1,000

I didn't say $1000 for the A7iii. I said approaching this price. No one ever thought the A7ii would drop below 1k and yet when the a7iii came out the A7ii dropped in price below 1k rather quickly. Body only was as low as around 800 and with kit lens was around 900-1000. So i don't think it is too far-fetched to think A7iii would do the same if it wasn't for the pandemic now that A7iv is out.

This is not a great deal because it has been at this price (and actually lower) for about over 2 years now.

These are not good prices fo this camera. These were 729 in 2019 as you can see from my order.
