Comparing this to the current FP deal for the 38" LG 38WN95C-W, RTINGS says... "Although the LG 38GN950-B and the LG 38WN95C-W are very different in their outer design, they're actually quite similar. The main difference is that the 38GN950-B's 144Hz refresh rate can be overclocked up to 160Hz. The 38GN950-B has a better HDR color gamut and volume, and it gets a bit brighter overall. The 38WN95C-W has a few more features, like a USB-C port with Thunderbolt 3 support and built-in speakers."

Also, do ya'll think it's worth matching at Best Buy for free geek squad (totaltech) and rewards or purchasing from Costco for their return policy?

The only drawback I heard about this Gsync compatible mon (not sure if this applies to all Gsync compatible freesync mon) is that some found out there are flickers below 60 fps. Not sure if this is true or not...

The way the HDMI and DP connect to the back of the mon is also awful. The connection is perpendicular to the monitor.

Definitely the AW3423DW OLED if you can find one. It has been out of stock for awhile now. QD-OLED is the new tech and once you go OLED, you wont want anything else.

Nothing beats this as a pc gaming monitor 38" is the perfect size imho.

ONLY for PC gaming. Not console

Completely depends on personal preference and many other factors like viewing distance. For some people, 4 inch bigger with higher resolution worth a lot more than what QD-OLED offers, while for some people it's only 4 inch that makes not enough difference and prefer QD-OLED.

That's like between 48" OLED TV vs. 55" QLED TV. Not everyone always go for 48" OLED over 55" QLED.

To me, personally, the beauty of AW3423DW was not enough reason for me to switch from AW3420DW and returned it after waiting 3 months. Only regret was that I should have resold it considering resale since I only paid $ 900 after all those promotional credit received lol.

Fully agree. I've been using this monitor for gaming and work since August 2020. Paid full price ($1500) and I don't regret a single moment. The extra vertical resolution (1440 vs 1600) seems like not much, but it definitely makes a difference when viewing apps and games (especially FPS where vertical view is also important like in Apex Legends).
I stepped up from a 5120x1440 monitor AOC monitor, and it was definitely worth it.

Went through the whole agony of thinking of buying the OLED Alienware, but in the end, the lack of HDMI 2.1, and the (slightly) lesser resolution kept me away for now.

If LG can perfect an OLED in a 38", it should be an instant buy. The 38 is a great size between 32 and 42".

It's literally the best you can get for a 38" UW but really this isn't that slick a deal.
AW3821 is very close behind, technically the same LG NANO IPS panel, although it loses bit in response time and color gamut which I doubt you and me can even notice. However, the Alienware has a physical G-sync module which helps VRR throughout the entire refresh rate range and may have advantages in real games (I believe RTINGS motion tests strictly measure transient between two unrelated pictures)

The good part about the AW is pricing and warranty. It has hit $1,100 a few times, constantly at $1,200. Then you have 10% maillist coupon, cashback from your favorite site, whatever credit card offers you get, you can potentially get one OTD for $900ish if all things fall into your favor.

Bought this a few months back and returned to Costco the next day. I thought going from a 14 y/o Dell 30" 2500x1600 screen to this would be a small increase, but the screen size was overwhelming for FOV, especially playing some games up close. Beautiful monitor but didn't work out. Return was easy to store.
