I got a set during the warehouse 25% off but other than that I haven't seen anything close to non starlock prices.

It seems like it only accepts star lock blades, which are quite expensive. Any way to use older non-star lock blades?

There is an adapter I have seen mentioned a few times before - but this thread seems to indicate that the adapter has limited use especially if you want to use higher power on the multi-tool. Which makes sense, and its why starlock exists in the first place. The design allows for higher power in the blades.
