on paper, this seems like it should be like 13x faster (7000mbps vs typical 550mbps on a sata ssd), but that's sequential read speeds, meaning you'd see that more if you were doing something like transferring a single, very large file, for example.
the nvme also has much higher IOPS which is honestly what impacts everyday uses more (it involves latency in read/write commands, which is what truly distinguishes SSDs against HDDs), but again, to really fully utilize the higher limits of nvme vs sata, you'd need to be doing something more specific and data intensive, which applies more to professionals.
at the end of the day, if you're getting an SSD, think about your budget/needs. this is one of the best SSDs out there right now (until pcie gen 5), with samsung being one of the most reliable brands for SSD. if you need a brand new SSD, i do recommend nvme at this day and age since it's not going to destroy your wallet (compared to SATA), and once directstorage api is utilized for PCs, it might make a difference.
but if you're already running on a SATA SSD, you don't need to run out and upgrade to this now thinking it will be a significant improvement. you won't feel it enough to justify the cost.

Picked one of these up on an upgrade a while back and I've been pleased with its performance.
For the heatsink v no heatsink: check if there's one already on your mobo before you spend extra for the one with the heatsink - many boards have heatsink a build in now for these.
