Was at my local Home Depot in Durham, NC (North) and saw that the Duraflame Fire Pit has been reduced in price to $150.00.

https://www.homedepot.com/p/Duraf.../319137297

Note that while they had 8 in stock, all labeled with the reduced price sticker, that neither the HD nor BS websites showed the reduced price, and both showed it as being out of stock. It might be worth your while to check for this on your next trip to your local HD.

I was waiting to see if it would drop further in price when I discovered that BJs.com has it on clearance, for the same price, but it also includes a carrying case and free shipping.

I found a comparison of the Solo vs. the Duraflame [littleoutdoorsy.com], giving the Duraflame a slight edge as it's reportedly easier to clean.

The BS website now correctly shows it as on clearance and in stock at not only North Durham, but also Apex, New Raleigh and Wake Forest locations.

Now $129.99 shipped from BJs. They have a 1-time guest checkout available for non-members.

I've updated the title to reflect the lower price available at BJs. My local Home Depot (Durham, NC) still has 9 in stock, stacked up by their other fire pits. Maybe they'll drop the price further, who knows?

Anyone who picked up the Duraflame want to chime in? I'm debating between this or the $199 HotShot (when on sale) from Costco. Even though the HotShot costs more, it's bigger (22 inches vs 19) and comes with more accessories like ash screens

Go for the HotShot. The 304 stainless is far superior against corrosion. The Duraflame fire pit will rust fairly quickly with its 200 series stainless.

Yeah, shame it's not all 304, says it's a mix. Just not sure what parts are made with what version

I guess one plus for the Duraflame is removable grate and ash tray, which is a new feature Solo Stove added to the 2.0 versions of their pits recently.

To add a little background, I purchased a flame genie in stainless and one of these duraflame fire pits. The flame genie still looks great after several uses. The duraflame looks terrible, heavy pitting / scale loss and the ash tray and grate rusted. Only used it once! I cleaned it out as soon as it cooled and it never got wet either. I can only say is I was very disappointed. I called duraflame and they referred me to another company who gave me a case number and said they would call me back when they figure out if it is covered by the warranty. Never received a call back so I just took it back.

Ok, good to know. I think I will skip the Duraflame, thanks!

Good info. Picked up the Duraflame from HD at the $150 price, but now I think I'll go for the one at Costco instead.

The Costco one bugs me though because it doesn't have a catch pan for ashes. Anyone know whether another model's ash pan will do, or a good alternative? They seem like they are simply a stainless steel pan with a lip , nothing more...

Seems like this could do the trick for the Costco one?
