Rei stuff is always really solid. They also have a one year return on products.

I do not own an REI tent, but have REI packs and other gear. Generally they have a major retailer make their gear and put the REI label on the products. In my experience they are equal in quality to major brands and 20-40% less in price. Staff in the stores or the 800 number are extremely helpful in describing gear and helping you make a decision on which gear will best suit your needs. If you are backpacking then weight and quality are big factors.

I own this tent. It is worth ~$100. It's a good deal. Note that the ventilation and rain/wind protection are not super, so this will work for a trip in non-extreme conditions. A lot of reviewers seem to be from novice campers.

I would steer clear of REI brand tents and packs. They may have a one-year return policy, but so does everything else REI sells. The problem is that REI brand stuff only has a one year warranty - most the other tents REI sells will come with a lifetime warranty. I had an REI tent develop a tear on the rain fly after 4 uses over 2 years. REI wouldn't do anything about it. Any other mid to high quality manufacturer (big agnes, mountain hardwear, MSR, etc) would have repaired or replaced it. I used to buy REI tents exclusively until they changed their return policy/warranty to one year.

I have heard that since the former Amazon exec took over that the quality of REI Brand stuff has gone down hill.

Just scrolled through the other sale items - it looks like chairs and the mini table etc. are higher priced than in the previous sale they had.

Just a reminder if you have a credit card with REI the deadline to cash out your rewards is coming up quickly. They are switching to Capital One and rewards that are only usable at REI instead of traditional cashback rewards.This has nothing to do with the regular member dividends it's just a credit card thing. https://www.rei.com/cardrewards

I canceled my current REI card. I'm sure once capital one takes over there will be new incentives to sign up for a new card that you miss if you let them roll over your account.

As far as current cc reward i believe it just goes towards your extra dividen which i had already used
