1. One is for a Hard Drive caddy - WHICH FOR SOME REASON HP DOESN'T USE to install the 1TB HD that's included. They install it to the front of the case- partially blocking the airflow from the side panel.
2. The other is a mesh bracket where you can mount 1 additional fan, but you need to buy a fan splitter as the MB only has 2 4-pin outlets: 1 for the CPU fan and 1 for the posterior exhaust fan.
I haven't installed the case fan yet. I'll get around to it, especially if it gets ultra toasty.
I don't recommend this machine unless it's going for less than $900.
Correct, HP and Dell still use proprietary parts, so your ability to make modifications are limited. There is a bracket to mount one additional fan for the case, but you need a fan splitter. The PC gets kind of loud and hot too if you're maxing out your game settings.
If you can get for less than $900 then it's a decent deal, especially if you want a modern machine that can do MOST things. Otherwise consider building your own now that GPU prices are gradually getting cheaper.

A case swap would've made this machine a pretty sweet deal. Sadly, the design decisions on this machine do little to save HP money- they're just complete nonsense that hurts the user.

It definitely runs hot, and frustratingly HP has it come installed with these 2 brackets inside the case essentially "BLOCKING" the mesh vent on the side panel.

Thanks I accidently typed it out twice. The title has been updated.
For me, it was a huge upgrade from 10 years old Ivy Bridge system. I love this system. It works well as I expected.
Here's some comments that may be helpful.
- I think most of the tower CPU cooler won't fit.
The base INTEL CPU cooler works well. But the CPU temp. was 50,60'C (idle) and it went up to 80'C (on load case like converting image raw file converting to JPG or video editing).
So I got the Vetroo V5 the budget cooler. It works well. The temp. dropped more than 20'C.
in my load case. the average temp. of 12 cores were 83.8'C (base cooler) vs 60.3'C (Vetroo V5). This is good upgrade but the problem is I cannot close the case lid. The CPU heat sink height clearance is more that the case allowed height. I am using the PC left the case open. I have searched other tower CPU cooler and I think most of the tower CPU cooler won't fit this case.
- RAM 16GB is not enough.
I was kind of disappointed with multi tasking. I tried to put several games in background.(mobile games that runs automatically.) The CPU load is 30~50% to play 4 clients. But it halts with lack of memory. I imagined to run 6 clients with web browsing and image processing. I cannot do that with 16GB RAM.
- NVMe 512GB is SK Hynix BC711 (HFM512GD3JX013N)
It works good. I cannot remember benchmark numbers. The random read was 3k MB/s I guess. Not enough storage but I try to use the secondary storage.

But if you're going to go through all that trouble, just take the $1K you'd spend on this after tax depending on where you live, and build your own PC.
