Pixel 6 owner here. I word of warning.
the reviews stating the slow finger print reader is concerning.
If i can go back in time, I would not buy the pixel 6 because the fingerprint reader is embarrassingly slow and misreads if you change lighting conditions. It's simply awful and makes checking the phone a chore. I hate it. No screen protector issue, not my phone (it was exchanged), and it's a common complaint. If you are coming from a phone that had even an average sensor, this will annoy you to no end.

The Google Tensor chips have such unreliable and poor mobile connections that a significant number of users have to reboot regularly or toggle airplane mode on/off just to get data working. It always happens when i drive. Check reddits pixel subs for more info. It doesn't look like any of those issues will be fixed because they simply aren't fixed in the flagships.
It seems to be an issue when you transition towers, so if you travel a lot or travel through dead zones, it'll happen more frequently. An unacceptable problem most in-studio reviews don't address, but real-world users struggle with, and have been since launch.

warning: This kind of trade in deal came around 1.5 yrs ago for 4a 5g. The say they will respect trade in value if old phone is received within a month of you receiving the new phone. But then they delayed the return pkg . And instead of giving $285 trade in value they gave $15. Everyone had to fight with customer care to get back the money. And they have terrible customer care.

Several reviews of the final product are indicating it's pretty similar to the 6 and 6 Pro. Some early stories and very early (unofficial) hands on videos said it was a faster sensor, but many of the reviews coming out today of the production model ay it's similar in speed. Maybe a hair faster here and there, but not so much as to make a noticeable difference in day-to-day use.

I have a 4a 5g that still runs great and has unlimited photo storage. P6 was a disappointment for me, thinking it's not really worth it to upgrade to 6a
I would NOT upgrade.
4a 5g has a LARGER screen.
4a 5g has Unlimited Google Storage at "Storage Saver Quality" vs nothing for Pixel 6a
Cameras are identical.
4a 5g has a headphone jack.

Real life differences between Tensor 1st gen and 4a 5g processor are negligible.
The extra $200 you spend won't be worth it.

Don't want to spend the $190 but seems like the 3a xl may never get $300 ever. Any thoughts?
You basically answered your own question. haha I'd say go for it!

FYI - I was quoted $295 trade-in credit for my pixel 3a with cracked screen at Google 🙂 and got the free pixel buds. feels like a heck of a deal to me!

edit- I purchased unlocked without a Google Fi plan
I have Pixel 3a with a broken screen too. But the problem is that screen isn't actually shattered, it simply doesn't light up. It's just black. Phone works because it receives calls and rings. Anyone has experience trading in a phone in this condition? TIA.

Too good to pass up. Final total was $480 after tax. Getting $300 for the pixel 3a trade in, free buds, $45 in Google credit and credit card Cashback.

Just don't think 3a is ever gonna give you that type of return again. Loved mine but it was getting long I the tooth and 64 gb was hurting.

Worth it to upgrade from a Pixel 5?
Honest opinion based upon current metrics for comparable prices, options, and just the state of things I'd keep what you already have. For what it's worth since the pixel 5 is already a fantastic device that has experienced the atypical cycle of Google Software tuning meaning that at this point, all of the bugs and irregularities have been roughed out for awhile now, you wouldn't really been seeing any substantial upgrades (as the camera setup is literally the same, along with storage, titan 2 chip, storage, etc) except for maybe some post processing, a longer declared support statement for security + software updates and wifi-over the air improvements depending on your connection; otherwise, yeah I'd either sell it locally or hold out for the 7 series if you are really wanting an upgrade!

So if I trade-in my Pixel-3A and get 6A will I lose my unlimited photo backup at "Storage Saver Quality"?

Will they start charging me for the existing photos in the cloud based on the storage utilized?

Google hardware sucks balls. They lost the war with Samsung of being king of the Androids.

Only see 2TB option and not 10TB option for $9.99.
I also see 2 TB option, I already am on 100GB plan paying yearly. I guess I need to use a different account to get the 2TB for a month, But do I get instant discount ? I am also planning to trade in pixel 3a XLwhich had purple lines but screen is in good condition. Hope I get full value. If I get 2TB how much discount do I get on basic 64GB Pixel 6a.

That's weird, $85 trade in for a pixel 3 in good condition, but $295 for a pixel 3a with cracked screen.

In any case I'll take it.
So crack the screen, what's the problem?
