Pixel 6 owner here. I word of warning.
the reviews stating the slow finger print reader is concerning.
If i can go back in time, I would not buy the pixel 6 because the fingerprint reader is embarrassingly slow and misreads if you change lighting conditions. It's simply awful and makes checking the phone a chore. I hate it. No screen protector issue, not my phone (it was exchanged), and it's a common complaint. If you are coming from a phone that had even an average sensor, this will annoy you to no end.

The Google Tensor chips have such unreliable and poor mobile connections that a significant number of users have to reboot regularly or toggle airplane mode on/off just to get data working. It always happens when i drive. Check reddits pixel subs for more info. It doesn't look like any of those issues will be fixed because they simply aren't fixed in the flagships.
It seems to be an issue when you transition towers, so if you travel a lot or travel through dead zones, it'll happen more frequently. An unacceptable problem most in-studio reviews don't address, but real-world users struggle with, and have been since launch.

warning: This kind of trade in deal came around 1.5 yrs ago for 4a 5g. The say they will respect trade in value if old phone is received within a month of you receiving the new phone. But then they delayed the return pkg . And instead of giving $285 trade in value they gave $15. Everyone had to fight with customer care to get back the money. And they have terrible customer care.

Several reviews of the final product are indicating it's pretty similar to the 6 and 6 Pro. Some early stories and very early (unofficial) hands on videos said it was a faster sensor, but many of the reviews coming out today of the production model ay it's similar in speed. Maybe a hair faster here and there, but not so much as to make a noticeable difference in day-to-day use.

FYI - I was quoted $295 trade-in credit for my pixel 3a with cracked screen at Google 🙂 and got the free pixel buds. feels like a heck of a deal to me!

edit- I purchased unlocked without a Google Fi plan
This is really strange with Google Store. Pixel 3XL and Pixel 3, they offer less than the cheaper version that is Pixel 3A XL and Pixel 3A. If anyone is looking to this, ebay has some of them for $65 that you can use to get $300 in trade in.

I am wondering if it is an error on Google part.

I went ahead and pulled the trigger for my wife. She doesn't want a jumbo sized screen of 6.5"+ so this is perfect. And I doubt she'll notice the 6gb of RAM. The free earbuds were the cherry on top.

the cracked 3a was worth $42 last week on the pixel 6.

Might as well check if the girlfriend wants the 6 or this since we were trading it in, but sheesh at the $295 trade in value. Its probably still worth just buying it, selling the earbuds and phone and still coming out ahead?

oh snap.

my super backup 3a gives me a trade in of $300.

It's edge has a very slight backlight bleed that is only noticeable when off. & I have a custom rom on it.

Think they'd take it?

I love the reliability of this phone but If they do give a full tradein value this feels like a no brainier trade in

EDIT: Just ordered it.

I love the 3a running Calyxos for when I need my phone to be not "talkative." But I don't like that security updates is ending very soon & I'm Calyxos will support the 6a soon.

I think it has to do with the 3 and 3xl being older than the 3a. The 3a series is probably the cutoff for the enhanced trade in value.

first time I've seen google give good trade in credits, they usually suck. But I got 300 for my oneplus 8 5g that I bought for 225 a year ago.

If choosing the Google Fi version, does this count towards the $75 AMEX credit?

What about the modem? Is it going to drop signal too?
Give Google a break. They've only been selling their own line of phones since... checks notes....2010.

If one doesn't care about the fingerprint sensor, how is this phone?

Is there a requirement to use it or Google phones forcing security?

For example I don't use any type of protection on my phone lock screen (galaxy s20).....do Google phones enforce it?

Edit: see below post
Edit 2: phone was gonna be for kid, not a replacement for my s20
